Help a cupcake-illiterate girl out!
I've never made cupcakes before (yup, you read that right). I'm planning on making some for Sasha's birthday party this weekend, Dh bought all the supplies, so I'm all set. Now tell me, do I need to do a practice batch or is it one of those things that you really can't screw up? It is quite possible that DH wants me to practice first, so that he gets a few extra cupcakes all for himself
Thanks!
Re: Help a cupcake-illiterate girl out!
Do you bake/cook with your oven a lot? Are you used to it's temps? Our little oven likes to cook things really fast, since it's so small. My old oven in Astoria was bigger and took a bit longer. If you're confident that when your oven say 350degrees, it is in fact 350degrees...then i don't think you need to practice. Just keep an eye on them and stick toothpicks in them to see how far along they are. If you stick a toothpick in and it comes out with batter on it, they're not done. If a toothpick comes out clean as a whistle, they're ready!!

yes, ditto about the previous suggestion. cupcakes are pretty easy. back the cake part. Let them cool!! and then put on the icing. a knife or spatula like tool works best. sprinkles and other adornments are optional!
ummm, but seriously, if you want to do a practice run, I can come over and taste test!! lol. I have been big time craving cupcakes. I think I could eat at least 5. hahahaha.
Cupcakes are easy. Ditto on the toothpick test method. Also, a reminder to let them cool before you frost. DH is always impatient and frosts things way too early and we end up with drippy frosting everywhere. Good luck!
P.S. What flavor are you making? Any chance we get to see pics?
Ooh, thanks for the suggestions, I'd so be the person with drippy frosting because I was being impatient, lol. I think DH bought funfetti cupcake mix, and I'll post pictures, though I'm not sure they'll look fancy at all.
Wait, you can make them the night before and just stick them in the fridge, right?
