the worst thing
When you wake up in the middle of the night to hear the cat barfing somewhere in the house, only to not be able to find it the next day. I know there is cat vomit somewhere in my house, I just don't know where. Hopefully nowhere that I can step/sit/otherwise accidentally touch it.

I hate to say this but, maybe it was eaten? By one of the dogs or cats?
So gross, but it's been known to happen in my household. A fubaby uchucks so we run to get some papertowels to clean it up and by the time we return (in mere seconds, mind you) it's completely gone.

I agree with the maybe it got eaten suggestion. Ellie licks up her own vomit sometimes.

Ugh! That sucks!
And I have to agree with Amy, stepping on anything "wet" in socks also seems nastier to me that in bare feet! haha! seriously don't know why i feel that way!
