Hey Jen!
How is everything going? How is Benjamin? How has your recovery been?
How have things been going with the diaper service? Are you happy you are going this route? Have you had any problems? Now that you are using them, would you recommend them? Any tips for me?
We still haven't made any decisions about what we are going to do.
Thanks!
Katie
Re: Jen & Joe
Hello hello!
Things are good. Recovery is slow...I over did it in the first few weeks and so my MW told me to do basically nothing until 6 weeks. I can feed and change Ben and go up/down the stairs twice a day. That is about it. I feel fine though...there is just that risk of hemmoraging.
Ben is great. Very cheeky and growing like a weed.
We actually aren't using the service. We did it for 1 day and couldn't believe how wet the diapers got. We figured it out that we would have to change him more than once an hour to keep him comfortable. Plus he got a rash from them. So we plan on waiting until he is a bit older and trying them out again. Right now we are using 7th generation diapers (you can get them at zehrs now) and also Nature Babycare diapers (they are biodegradable and organic). We only use the latter when we have a chance to be in the Milton area to pick them up from the ladies who sell them.
How are you feeling?
My friend had the same problem with the diapers. Her little guy (also Ben!) was too wet in them and would get rashes. Interesting. I wonder if there is a difference between boys and girls - not that that matters, since I don't know what we are having. I think my plan is to adjust to the baby for a few weeks and then go from there.
Good to hear Ben is doing so well! Make sure you listen to your MW instructions!!! Have you been getting lots of help - parents, siblings, etc?
I am feeling pretty good still. I am still sleeping well, but I need to make an effort to get more sleep. I don't really go to bed an earlier than I did pre-pg. Curtis is leaving for Amsterdam on Monday for 10 days, so I am dreading that. I am not concerned about going into labour or anything, but I just know that it will be hard without him. My mom is coming to stay with me for some of the time he is gone, so that should help.
Yeah for your mom coming to stay with you. Just make sure Curtis brings you back something cool!
I haven't really been getting any help besides Joey. He was off the first 2 weeks and then these last few weeks he goes in early (leaves at 5:30) and is home by 3:00 at the latest. So that helps me a lot. My sister was induced due to major complications a few weeks ago. She was only 34w so my mom has been busy taking care of her, the baby and my 2 year old niece. Our babies were supposed to be 2 months apart and instead they are 12 days. Crazy.
