PA Renaissance (sp?) Faire
DH and I were thinking of going to the Renaissance Faire for our anniversary in October.
Neither of us have ever been and it's one of those "we'll do it some day" things for years. So what the heck.
So for the folks who have been, is it worth going two days? The time we want to go they're having a wine and cheese thing that looks good (*Homer Simpson* Hmmmmm....cheessse.) Anyone do that? Worth getting a room for one night if it's only an hour away from our house?
Thoughts?
Muchos nachos gracias.
Re: PA Renaissance (sp?) Faire
DH and I went last year, and we regularly go to the Celtic Fling at the grounds as well.
As far as the actual Renn Faire goes, my own personal experience is no, it isn't worth going two days. We live in York (about an hour from the place) and we just drove over in the morning, stayed all day, and drove home when the place closed.
It's fun, but it's only a one-day-er for me, personally.
And I like the Fling better
I love the Ren Faire, but I doubt I'd go two days in a row. You should be able to see it all in one day. Maybe you could check the schedule online and see if it looks like there are enough shows/events to keep your interest for the second day.
Can't help you with the hotel room. I guess that depends on how much you guys like driving vs how much you'd spend on the room vs how much you'd spend on gas vs how badly you want to be away from home for the night. Personally, I enjoy road trips, but I also like staying in hotels because it means I don't really have any responsibilities. The house that needs vacuuming, the dogs that want dinner, the litter than needs to be scooped, etc., are all miles and miles away
mmmm.... nachos.... aaaaaaaa....
They do an Edgar Allen Poe event in the mansion for Halloween, and they do a Charles Dickens Christmas event for Christmas.
I've been to the Christmas one -- it's awesome
Thanks for the inside scoop ladies. I'm not a big "crowd" person so 1 day would probably be all I could take.
As long as DH can have a big turkey drumstick and a flagon of mead he'll be happy.
my sister was a gypsy! she loved it, but I was only there once in hs. agreed, one day is enough.

Not worth 2 days. You can do and see everything in one, easily. And that is with checking out the vendors, the shows and just meandering around. Have you considered having your vows renewed there? I know they do that. Apparently my one cousin has done this for the past 3 years!
Since you enjoy wine, maybe make the second day, a day to explore and check out the many local wineries.
