Hey Everyone!

The big move is coming closer and closer. The closer it gets, the more scared I am getting.... and now I am second guessing the decision to relocate! Ack!

I mean I am sure that financially it should be at least a lateral move if not an improvement. I would like to think that the quality of life is so much better than here on the East Coast.

I'm starting to be afraid of what if we HATE it? What if we don't make any close friends. (DH is not very outgoing at all, so I feel like it will be up to me to find us friends. He's fine once you get to know him and he warms up to you...)

Just looking fore some thoughts and words.

Hope you all had a great labor day weekend.

Re: Hey Everyone!

  • Aww I totally know the feeling! I am starting to have the same thoughts, so I probably don't have the best words or thoughts....but I can say that I keep telling myself that this is an adventure, it is a great chance to start over and meet great people, and that its what I need in my life in order to make it better!

Overall I would say to hang in there, keep your eyes on the positive, and know that you will definitely meet some cool people in Albuquerque! A friend of mine says that you need to "change your circumstances to change your life" and that's what I think I'm doing!

When are you officially going to be out there? My work start date is October 5th (hopefully, they want me to start on the first but with moving and stuff it will be easier to start Monday) I think we should definitely get some GTG's going in October! :)

  • In a way I am glad that I am not the only one! haha.

It IS going to be an adventure. We are out there for at least 2 years. I am hoping that we LOVE it out there and that it will be our forever city. We shall see. It greatly depends on how much I love my job and our social success. Social life is very important to me as well al having good friends.

We should be arriving October 15th. Realistically speaking I do not think I will be able to make it to a GTG until November. I need to get settled into my new job. I turn 30 on the 24th we will have to do a belated celebration and us NM newbies can meet all the regulars!

  • I think any big change is nerve wracking, that doesn't mean it is bad!  I'm sure when you come for your next visit you will be very excited again.  plus you have all of us, that is a good start on the friends  Smile

  • I remember being really anxioud when I moved to ABQ.  I had just graduated from college (and i took the long way aroud to get that degree, so I was 26), had no job, no savings and knew my sister and my neice in ABQ. It was a bit of a culture shock after 8 years in boston. And I ended up LOVING it here.

Ditto Claire, you both have a start on having some friends.

see you both within a month!
