Inviting Neighbors to Open House?

So I got our open house invitations ready to go and would like to meet some of our new neighbors.  Do you think it would be appropriate to invite the neighbors immediately next door and across the street from us by knocking on the door or dropping the invitation in their mailbox?  Since we don't know all of their names yet, is it appropriate to address it to (Subdivision) Neighbor?

I don't think we can possibly invite the WHOLE neighborhood so wanted to get your ladies' opinions...

Re: Inviting Neighbors to Open House?

  • I would think your best bet would be to knock on their door and introduce yourself. I would be a bit weirded out to receive an invitation from someone I had never met.? If they don't answer the door, I would drop the invite in their box with a nice handwritten note introducing yourself and asking them to come. (rather than simply leaving the invitation alone).

I completely agree. We just built a new deck and are having a party next weekend. I will be going around and knocking on doors and inviting the neighbors.
