DH and I just moved to our new home in Fort Thomas. We live on a lovely little cul-de-sac and we've met every neighbor. It's an extremely tight-knit group of wonderful people. They party together and have all kinds of fun things around different holidays.
Anyway, DH and I are going to be on vacation (thank God!) over Halloween. The street all hangs out together and does a big shindig during trick or treat hours.
Do you think it would be stupid to ask our next door neighbor (we've met her several times now) to hand out candy for us? I just don't want to be the scrooge's in the neighborhood on our first halloween!

I don't think it is odd at all. I'm assuming you're going to ask them to hand it out and give them a bowl of your candy, not expect them to hand it out at your house.
We are never home for Halloween so we leave a note on the door that our candy is with the neighbors. They've never had a problem passing it out for us.
