Hi. I don't write often and don't have too much time to come on the board any more with worka dn the baby but I need help.
My girlfriend has a 15 year old son in his Freshman year of highschool who is a terror. In the last year alone she has caught him smoking, using drugs, having sex with a number of girls and getting into alot of trouble at school. It got to the point where she had to send her son to live with his dad for a while to see if he could straighten her son up. he couldn't they have punished him, taken all his priviledges away includign his phone TV and going out. They have even tried spanking him. She asked me yesterday my honest opinon about what she could do about this and I had no answers. I'm writing to see if anyone has any advise that I can pass along.
Thank you for all your help.
Chrissy
Re: NEED HELP!
Thank you for the military school idea it was a great one.
She can't afford it but I'm going to look for some grants or scholarships or somethng to help with the payments
I'm super late but have the parents tried going to therapy and taking the son to therapy? I am sure there is a reason he is acting this way. Perhaps he is acting out about something going on in his life. I think your friend is divorced since you said he went to live with his dad, maybe that's a contributing factor.
I think a therapist may definitely help at least give the parents tactics on how to deal with these issues. I think they are definitely at a loss as to what to do when they are spanking a 15 year old, that's a little bit crazy IMO.
Another thing, have the parents tried talking to his teachers at school?? Have they seen the counselor at school? I imagine there are issues there too and maybe his teachers and school can help give suggestions. At least they will be aware of what's going on...
One more thought, did this come out of nowhere? I honestly feel like this must have been coming for years. All else fails, call Supernanny
