...that I have NO CLUE what the Prez's plan for health care reform is about?
I have to admit that I have not been paying attention AT ALL to the hubub surrounding his plan. All I know is that there is something called a public option that is getting all the Republicans pissed off.
And that one republican pulled a shoe-thrower-move and screamed at Obama that he's a liar in the middle of his speech last night. ![]()
I am not usually this clueless when it comes to politics. I think it's because, for the past 8 years I felt like I HAD to pay attention to what the Prez was doing, because if I didn't I might wake up one day and there'd be an oil pipeline in my backyard, and we'd be using wolves and polar bears as target practice with our rifles that we were all required to own. ![]()
But since Obama has been elected I have kind of taken a "ok, he can handle it" approach. I mean, I agree with him on all major issues, and I feel like I elected him because I thought he would do the right thing when given the opportunity to do his job. So, I've slacked off in paying attention, because I feel like whatever he wants to do will be fine with me.
I know that's not a "responsible" way to participate in gov't, and I feel like a looser because I have no opinion on this health care reform, because I don't know anything about it!! Are you guys well versed in the issues?
Re: Does it make me a bad American...
i'm not well versed in it either *hides face* and i totally hear you on being a lot more lax about following politics now that we have a president who doesn't scare thefuckingcrap out of me.?
?
I've heard bits and pieces of it. (NPR & The daily show - lol) A lot of what i've read and heard lately just makes me so mad at our government. P. Obama is trying to do something really positive (from what I can understand) and Republicans and other media are basically lying about certain elements, crying about moving towards socialism (biggest pile of BS ever when you think about all our other government run programs), and other negative hype.
bah, i'm just so irritated about a lot of political/goverment/corporate things right now. (see upcoming post)
Yeah, I've only been barely paying any attention. What I have heard hasn't been to substantive, but I am in the same category, since it is Obama, I'm good with it.
