Nestie Vibes Please - MIL in ICU
Hi Ladies - I'm asking for some vibes today. Yesterday my FIL called MH to tell him his mother was in surgery for a mass that was found on her colon. Today, it sounds like it is worse than thought, they had to remove part of her colon, an ovary and some lymph nodes. She's in the ICU b/c she lost a lot of blood during the surgery - and it looks like it's colon cancer (but we won't know for sure until they biopsy the tissue). My ILs are the private, stoic type; in fact my MIL didn't want my anyone to know she was going into surgery (hence we didn't even know until she was in surgery). My family, on the other hand, is all about over-sharing. So I'm just hoping I can be a helpful DIL and be there for MH and his family, although I'm not quite sure how yet. Thanks in advance for the vibes!

It is difficult to know how to act with ILs who are reserved. I think just be there for your H and follow his lead with the rest.
