Giving blood - Boston

One of my good friends is the daughter of John Ogonowski, the pilot of American Airlines flight 11 - the first plane to crash into the towers. Today, she and her mom and her sisters are working at the Boston Red Cross blood drives (at Fenway from 6-1 or City Hall from 11-6) if anyone from the MA area is looking to contribute.

This is a really important day, not only because it's 9/11, but because giving blood is something we should all try to do.  In an emergency, the donations of others is what keeps our friends, family, neighbors, police/firemen in duty, etc alive.

If anything, please remember how the donations of others 8 years ago saved countless lives.

Thanks!

 RIP J. Ogonowski 2/24/49 - 9/11/01

I'm friends with everybody in this office. We're all best friends - I love everybody here. But sometimes your best friends start coming into work late, and start having dentist appointments that aren't dentist appointments. And that's when it is nice to let them know that you can beat them up.

Re: Giving blood - Boston

  • I know her too - I worked on her uncle's campaign
  • I gave blood yesterday. The blood centers here closed too early to do it today. I've always thought giving blood regularly is the least you can do, and a 9/11 anniversary is as good a time as any to start a regular donation schedule.

My next appointment is the beginning of November.

  • I used to give blood every 56 days, then at some point in college I was infected with Hep C (and no I wasn't having sex with millions of ppl, or doing drugs). I was lucky engough to be part of the 7% of people who get infected and their immune systems fights off the virus. Unfortunately, I will always have the Hep C antibodies in my blood stream. I am on the American Red Cross black list (literally). So no giving blood for me.
