Hi Ericka!

Just wanted to throw an idea at you.  I am 99% sure that I will be registering for the Avon Walk in 2010.....IN DC!!!!!  I wanted to give you lots of time to think about it, but would you be interested in walking too??  It is on May 1 and 2.  I haven't registered yet, but will probably do it in the next month or so.  I know how important the cause is to you and your family and I'd love to have a walker buddy!

If not, we'll still definitely have to GTG while I'm there!!!!!

Here's the link to info if you want to peek at it:

Re: **Ericka**

  • Amy! You definitely gave me something to think about. My first thought "I wanna do it". Second thought "Can i do it???" lol. Are you planning to do the marathon and a half? I do want to do it. I just have to commit to training properly for it. It may be tough to walk outside/train during winter here in DC. I hate walking in the cold Stick out tongue. I wish you live closer so we can train togther!  Also, we're planning to TTC later this year or early next year. If and when I do get KU before the walk, then that may make a difference in my decision to participate. How much time do I need to train?  Did you save your post re recap of your  walk? I'd have to read your journey again lol. I'll  definitely think about this. Thanks for thinking of me!

Regardless, yes, we definitely should gtg when you're in town! :-)

  • Of course you CAN do it!  If I can do it, anyone can.  I will do the marathon and a half again, but you can always opt to do a half each day instead of a full the first day.  I totally didn't even think about training in DC winter....yeah, that could be interesting to say the least!  The Avon Walk puts out several different training scehdules - I think I'm going to do a 24 week plan instead of the 12 this time.  At least then I'm accountable to keep moving for half the year!  But they have 24, 20, 16 and 12 week training plans that you can follow.  My journey recap is on FB so you can read it again if you want.  I won't lie, it was the hardest thing I've ever done, but apparently worthwhile since I'm doing it again!  LOL!

Just give it some thought, there's plenty of time to think about it.  If you decide not to walk we'll be sure to spend time while I'm there and I expect to see you at the finish line!  Wink

I'll keep in touch with you about it for sure!

  • Definitely keep me posted! I've been meaning to mention this to Jeff but keep forgetting. I think the most I've walked is about 10 miles when I did the MS Walk. I did that with no training at all. I work out regularly so hopefully, I'd be fit enough (plus with proper training) to do the marathon walk :-).
