Who did your wedding cake?
Or do you have another cake bakery you really like? My little sister has looked at a few including BonBonerie (loved it, not the price) and Affordable Wedding Creations. She also looked at another place that has yummy flavors but has a not so great rep on the Knot/Nest, etc. She's leaning towards that place and it makes me nervous. Obviously it's her choice but I'd like to give her some other suggestions.
Also- there's a bakery in Northside that does cookies, lunches, vegan cakes, etc-can anyone think of the place?
Re: Who did your wedding cake?
Tracy Bellman with Tres Belle cakery did mine and it was one of the best choices I made. I LOVE carrot cake and hers is FAB! I also had her do a grooms cake and a few birthday cakes since and I have been super happy with all of them. Her prices are great too.
She has a facebook page as well as a website

We used Lisa's Cakes. She works out of her house in Lebanon. Her cakes are delicious!

We used Fantasty in Frosting. It was great!
The bakery in Northside is Take the Cake. I hear great things about their pastries sold in the store. Not to sure about weddings. I am sure they are good.
I'm going to give the list to my sister!
Rottie, thanks! I could not remember the name for anything. I have had the regular party cakes and they're good.
BTW, I used Bluebird Bakery in Glendale. Yummy cake, but I think they do better with small vs wedding cakes.
I second Tracy and Tres Belle. I used her and so did my brother and 2 friends. Every one has been awesome. And I agree that her prices are very affordable.

She was very affordable and delivered later in the afternoon on a Saturday.

We went with Bonbonerie. I know you mentioned it's too costly--it was for us too! So we didn't get 'wedding' cake. We bought individual 9' cakes-- 8 of them was MORE than enough for 150 ppl. That way we got the amazing taste we wanted for a price we could afford!
GL to your sister!
Tracy Bellman with Tres Belle did our cake too! I didn't know she had a facebook page, but I just checked it out and she put our cake picture up!
We looooved her work!

I used Marylin's Cakes in Newport, KY. It was absolutely delicious, inexpensive, and gorgeous.
Edit: Oops, that's Ludlow, not Newport!
LOL @ mouthgasm!
You already know who did my cake. No further comment.
Did she check out Dessertworks? They get more than their fair share of raves and the owner is super helpful. Worth checking out.
Tell her to avoid you know who.
We used both Bonbonerie and Patricia's.
Bonbonerie tasted fabulous... but didnt do custom designs and we didnt find anything in their book we liked. We used them for our grooms cake...
Patricia's does custom anything, is competitive in price and will make you a new top layer on your 1yr anniversary.....
Loved them both
DO NOT and I mean DO NOT use Patricia's. She royally screwed up my brother and SIL's cake on their wedding day and didn't even try to fix it. It was literally the most hideous thing ever, looked like a 4 year old did it. One of the worst things? It had colored fondant circles on it...ALL the circles were about the come off and the color from them was dripping down the cake everywhere. It looked terrible.
ETA: she also called them the night before their wedding, at 10pm, while they were at their rehearsal dinner to ask them how they wanted the cake decorated. She apprently put off doing it until the night before, and then forgot how to do it, and lost the paper that said it.
Marilyn is in Ludlow, KY - my hometown.
I agree - she is very affordable and did a beautiful job.
Same.. Marilyns Cake's. She did a beautiful job and the cake not only looked gorgeous but it was delicious. She did 3 tiers, 3 different flavors with fillings, w/ buttercream icing and fondant decor for about $268 which included renting the cake pedestal as well. (Prices are likely different since this was in 08').

We used A Spoon Fulla Sugar and LOVED it! They did a birthday cake for our son, but their web site has lots of photos of wedding cakes. And I can assure you it tasted awesome (we got chocolate with chocolate mousse filling).
The bakery you are thinking of in Northside is Take the Cake, i think.
