So my sister works for a pretty well known country artist who is part of a pair that begins with "Big" and ends in "Rich". Most folks I tell about around here just go "Who?", and I think they're more well known south of the Mason Dixon.
Anywho, my sister got tickets for the last show of the tour which was in Atlantic City. It was my mom, her friend from college, a family friend, and myself. So I was the youngin' of the crew.
I should have known it was going to be a nutty time when my mom, pulling out of the driveway, said, "I'm not your mother this weekend. I'm over the 'mom' thing", and she then cranked the song "Save A Horse, Ride A Cowboy.
PS long story short, we got to do a meet and greet and meet Big, Rich, Cowboy Troy, and 2 Foot Fred. Now I had no idea about the Cowboy Troy or 2 Foot Fred so I was all "Hey, nice to meet you...???". The show was great and a good time. Mom danced the entire time and told me I was boring for not dancing enough. My sister was backstage because she couldn't get us all passes.
After the show I texted my sister to meet up with her. She said she was on Big Kenny's bus and come on over. I have never seen a group of women run through a casino faster. I barely kept up with them. We got on the bus and got to hang out for a hot minute, and my mom and her friends were on cloud nine. I thought it was pretty cool to, although I really wanted to see if he was a nice guy to my little sister (which he was so it's good
).
After the bus we went out with my sister and her friends, and my mom and her friends to a tiki bar until 3am. My mother was talking like a sailor and knocking back beers like a champ. It was...enlightening...to say the least. Like when you see your parent as a person and think, "Yeah, I'd probably hang out with them if they weren't my parent cause they're pretty cool."
I still miss my sister, but at least I know her boss is a good guy. And a pretty darn tootin' good musician to.
The End.
