Anyone else hooked on this? What did you think of the season finale?
My first instinct was that Eric is the one who took Bill; however, I think that connection is too obvious and I see them going in a different direction.
Jason Stackhouse kills me. "I love the smell of nail polish in the morning." "If a tree falls in the woods, it's still a tree!" He became a lot funnier this season.
I adoreadoreadore Evan Rachel Wood as the queen.
I'm glad Maryann is gone - I hate it when storylines linger into the next season. I knew something was off with her from the beginning, but I liked how the plot slowly revealed her evil nature. I wasn't sure how Sam was going to make it out alive, but I'm glad he did. I have felt so sorry for him in both seasons, it's like he's always getting kicked when he's down.
I recently ordered the entire book series, but I'm hesitant to pick it up because I don't want to ruin anything. Has anyone else both read the books AND watched the series?
Re: True Blood (spoilers)
I liked it, but I'm so glad Maryann is gone. Her storyline was getting cheesy and needed to end. I also thought Eric took Bill right away, but then decided that would be too easy.
The books don't follow the series exactly. For example, in book 2 it isn't the voo doo lady found with her heart cut out in the car, it's a main character in the series...and it happens in the first few pages. After that, I didn't read any more of it because I wanted to just watch the series. I'll probably read the book now since this season is over.
I've read all of the books, so my take on things is pulling in some ideas from those even though Alan Ball has specifically stated he's not following the books 100%. Now I get to watch and try to piece things together from the various different books.
I hated the Maryann storyline and was glad to see it finally end. It had dragged out for way too long and seemed very "out there" for the second season when they had less insane storylines that they could have actually pulled from the books.
My gut feeling is that it was Lorena (or an associate of Lorena's) who took Bill - I don't believe they've cast the queen's "left hand man" for next season, so I don't think it's Andre. Bill cannot fight her off (though the silver helps) & it's a great jump into S3/B3 that they've made clear through Sam's family's address. Eric is too obvious (just like it being Lafayette dead in the car last season was too obvious).

I'm up to book 5 and it's really hit or miss with Alan Ball following the books. I think he plans it as he goes along. For instance, I think Lafeyette was supposed to die in the first season but he was such a fan favorite that they kept him. I thought the finale was just eh. Not enough Eric for me
So glad Marianne is gone, yay!
BTW, was that Charlaine Harris being served a beer at Merlottes?! I'm pretty sure it was!
Yes it was - she was very excited about her guest spot!
http://www.trueblood-online.com/ I think a few pages back has her interview about it.
And R turned to me as the credits rolled and said, "I know, you don't have to say it... there wasn't enough Eric." He understands!

Hee hee, how true! There is NEVER enough Eric!
