Hey girls,
As some of you know, I've been training for my first triathlon - and completing it is on my "bucket list" too! (though after it, I want to keep doing tri's)
It's just sprint level, the shortest kind, and this one has a shorter bike part than usual sprint levels - (1/2 mile ocean swim, 11 mile bike, ends with 3 mile run).
it's this Sunday, please wish me luck!! I am so so so super slow. I really think I am going to be the last one out of the water and the last to finish. I just hope if that happens, I will still be proud of myself and still keep going, and not be down on myself (which I am an expert at).
I did one of my hardest "bricks" this weekend (when you do at least 2 of them right after each other) - I swam 1100 meters then "ran" 3 miles. Boy the running was pretty bad - I'm already a really really really slow runner (15 minute mile) - but what should have taken 45 minutes took me 55.
I guess I should be proud of myself - I was always one of the last girls picked for teams during gym, and I even got a D in Phys Ed in 9th grade because I got an F on my volleyball test.... I was one of the last girls to finish the mile when we had to run for some physical fitness test or another in junior high --- I was definitely not an athlete or never even worked out until college. So I guess I should think it's amazing that I've come this far (and finally learned to freestyle correctly!). But I really do have a tendency to be down on myself, so I would appreciate your encouragement.
Please wish me luck - I'll need it! Thanks!
Re: AW: Vibes please!

good luck jen! an 1100m swim is no small feat - i'm impressed! sounds like you've been training diligently for it - hopefully when race day comes, you'll be confident that you've done what you needed to do to be ready. part of it is just mental, so try to find that inside you - i know you can do it!
which race are you doing? i did the danskin last month, and it was super inspiring and encouraging to see women of all shapes and sizes out there, pushing themselves, no matter how slowly they were going - they didn't stop. and you won't either!
GOOD LUCK!!!!
I have done marathons, and my philosophy is always just to finish!!
Training for a triathlon is HARD WORK! You should feel great for taking this on. Good for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is such a great goal to strive for.
Sending lots of good luck vibes your way!!!
GOOD LUCK! It's totally all about finishing. You will feel so awesome to cross that finish line no matter what place you finish.
I was like you. My freshman year in HS, when we had to do the Presidential fitness thing, I couldn't even finish a mile in 10 min. My friend and I were the last two to finish. And then I ended up going on to run cross country in college and finish 2 marathons. It feels awesome to accomplish things you never ever thought you could do.

Great job and you'll do fantastic. As others have mentioned...finishing is the ultimate goal...you should be so prould of yourself!!!!
A finish is a finish, regardless of having great time or being the last one to cross. Crossing the finish line is the greatest feeling. I remember my first tri...I was so nervous, I literally almost crapped my pants, but crossing the finish was so emotional and such an acomplishment...still gives me the chills thinking about it
kick a-ss tri vibes coming your way!!!!
You SHOULD be proud! What you're doing is AMAZING - do you know how few people (including my lazy ass lol) would even attempt it? Hell, I'M proud of you!
***tons of good luck dust for you!!!***
