Know anything of these apartments?

The Villas at La Privada?

One Tree Park Apartments?

Prarie Hills?

Mountain Run?

Ventana Ranch Apts?

The Retreat at Candelaria?

We are looking for short term leasing options anywhere from 3-6 months. Preferably 3-4 months. Probably 2 bedrooms so we can use one for storage. And will allow our horribly adorable 13 lb doggie. Thinking NE or NW.

Thanks everyone!

Re: Know anything of these apartments?

  • I would probably advise against the first two (did you mean Oak Tree Park?).  I lived in both many years ago and never felt particularly comfortable with regard to my safety.  I believe there was a shooting at La Privada not too long ago.  I would probably pick Mountain Run but don't know a lot about some of the others.  Mountain Run may not be the most convenient location for you if you're working downtown, but it's a nice area.
  • Not sure if you actually are going to work downtown or if I made that up :)  I check in somewhat rarely.
  • My DH is works with apartment complexes for his company so I asked him which is the nicest.

He said Ventana Ranch are the nicest apartment, but its in a dust bowl on the west side. The commute downtown might be the longest out of these complexes.

The Retreat is older but have been remodeling.  The same management company runs Spain Gardens which is pretty nice so you may check with that complex to see if they will offer a short term lease as well.

Ditto with PP on La Privada and Oak Tree. Not great complexes.

He said Prarie Hills is ok.

Hope that helps!  We were in the same situation when we moved, so I know it's tought to pick a place without seeing it.

  • Thanks!

We will look into Spain Gardens.

We are also now looking at Ventana Canyon, Riverwalk, Broadstone high Resorts, and Eagle Ranch.

Going to set up some appointments during our visit. I do really like Riverwalk from the pictures and location though.

  • Love Broadstone Heights.  I lived there before buying a condo when I moved back to Albuquerque about 6 years ago and it's really nice.  Pricey perhaps, but nice.
  • I used to live at Mountain Run and really didn't like it...granted, that was many years ago.

Of the ones you just mentioned, DH and I lived at Riverwalk for a couple of years before buying our house and really liked it.  MIL lives there now and as far as I know, she has no plans to move any time soon.  Our friend just moved into the complex next door (Camino Rael) which is also nice but a little more pricey.  Eagle Ranch seemed nice too...we were getting ready to sign a lease with them when we decided to buy a house (they're sister properties w/Riverwalk).

There's another nice one on the westside at Coors and Paseo that I can't remember for the life of me.  It's right by the Riverside Sports and Wellness.  We have some friends living there...they just built some brand new apts that are really nice.  Not sure about lease terms though.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

  • Oh, and Ventana Ranch is also supposed to be really nice (never been there) and I don't think the commute is bad.  I work downtown and live just down the street.  This is probably closer than the house you were looking at.

  • My coworker lived at Ventana Ranch apartments before he purchased a house out in Ventana Ranch. And I have a friend that lives in that complex right now. They all liked them - clean, great management, loved the Ventana Ranch neighborhood and all the trails, VERY pet friendly.

And the commute from the Westside isn't that bad.  Especially since you'll be on hospital shift hours.

    Other than that, I'm useless.
