UC folks: need help getting transcript

I just got a phone call from a job I applied for about a month ago. She said I'm being considered, but they need to review my college transcripts.

They want an unofficial copy of my transcripts by 5pm tomorrow, or I will be taken out of the running for this position.

Never having needed my transcripts before, I went online to find out how to request. Minimum time is 2 days, but that's for an "official" copy. The lady with the job said an unofficial copy would be okay.

Any idea how to get an unofficial copy? I can't even find the phone number to the registrar's office. They seem to want everything done online now. Grr.

Any help is greatly appreciated. TIA!

Re: UC folks: need help getting transcript

  • If you still have your log in information to your blackboard account, you should be able to print one out from there. *If I remember correctly*

And depending on when it was that you graduated, you may have one sitting in the envelope that your diploma came in.

Sorry I can't be more helpful - and if all else fails, I sometimes find it easier to stop by campus to talk to someone in person (if you have time to do it). If it helps, the number for the registrar -one stop office is 556-1000

  • Thanks, but I'm old. LOL. Have no idea what you mean by blackboard account.

If I had one in the envelope when I graduated, it's gone now.

Thanks for the phone number though. I was looking all over for the registrar phone number, and couldn't find it posted anywhere. Off to make a call!
  • Good luck getting through to OneStop.  I work at UC and tried calling them for hours the other day!  Hopefully it will be better for you!
What college did you graduate from?  I would maybe try contacting them.  They should be able to help.

  • Got thru to OneStop after redialing for 5 min, then sitting on hold for another 5 min or so.

No "unofficial" transcripts available. She told me the only way I can get my grades more quickly than a transcript is to go online and print them out from the One Stop website. Fine.

So I get on there and start printing them out, quarter by quarter. Except I must be really old. They only have online records available for my senior year. Anything older than that (ie the first 4 years I was in school) I have to get an official transcript in order to get my grades.

So... I guess this job was not meant to be.

I am gonna go ahead & request an official copy though, just to have on hand for just such occasions in the future.

    Thanks for your help!
  • I have to say-that seems like an odd request from the potential employer!  I can understand wanting transcripts, but they should give you a better deadline!

  • I'm so sorry. That really sucks. I didn't think it would be that easy for anyone to get the transcripts online - but I figured it might be worth a shot!

Is it possible to explain this to the people you're interviewing? Maybe having your senior year grades will be enough until you can get the transcripts?

    What a PITA!

  • I have never heard of a job wanting transcripts unless the person was recently out of college. It just seems like as odd request. I worked in a registrar's office and nothing moves fast there. I would be surprised if anyone would be able to get a copy in one day.
