Biggest Loser starts tonight...
who is going to watch this season?
I am. I can't wait, I love that show. So inspiring.
Re: Biggest Loser starts tonight...
We will probably start out watching it, but every season, Greg gets less and less interested. Truthfully, the more I learn about what goes on behind the scenes, the less I get interested! LOL
But yes, I'm planning on watching. I'm glad to see Jillian's back - I thought for sure she'd be gone this season!
I'll be watching.
Paula: what about the behind the scenes is making you less interested? I know little about what we don't see on tv.

I think the most recent thing was how they portrayed that one guy who "ran the marathon" when he actually didn't finish it. (He ran part of it, then to make sure he could get the shots necessary for the show, got picked up and dropped off near the finish line. They advertised a GREAT TIME, when it actually took him MUCH longer to "finish".)
Excerpts from a previous contestants blog:
"I dehydrated off 19 pounds in the last two weeks before the BIG weigh in. I stopped working out, I stopped eating solid food after eating only protein and asparagus (a diuretic) then I had two colonics and spent the night before the weigh in in and out of a sauna...A lot of the contestants this season have blogged about how they are taught to "retain water" to control a weigh in"
Another contestant's blog: http://tinyurl.com/l68oso ("the last ten days before the final weigh-in I didn't eat one piece of solid food! If you've heard of "The Master Cleanse" that's what I did?.In the final 24 hours I probably dropped 10-13 lbs in just pure water weight. By the time of the final weigh-in I was peeing blood.")
Yes, I'm all for being inspired. But when it comes down to someone's HEALTH, if you're going to make this a reality show about gameplay (even if it's weight loss-related), SHOW it. Honestly. People will eat that sh*t up with a spoon.
Just don't make it appear that you, too, can make such a huge transformation while remaining healthy. Because what these contestants do - and are encouraged to do - is NOT healthy.

Whoa! I have never read any of the blogs....crazy.
I will still watch, it's a tv show, they have to make it entertaining too you know, to get people to keep tuning in. Don't forget it is a competition too. Save go to lose weight and maybe if they do well win some money and some go there to win money and lose weight.
I'm so excited for it! I keep seeing the commercial about the one contestant whose family died in an accident. I want to cry everytime I see it.
I wasn't aware of what went on behind the scenes. I think that's sad but also some of the contestants own fault because they let the money start being the main goal that's why I think a lot of them gain back weight. Those who are truly there to change their lives do and keep it off.
Ron?? He was the only guy other than his son Mike. They did a good job making it look like he finished even if he didn't. I had no clue he didn't do the whole thing.
No, it was Blake or someone like that - he'd been sent home and when they showed how he'd been doing since he left the ranch, they made a big deal out of him running a marathon. Only he really didn't.
Like I said, I realize it's reality TV and that's rarely true to form. But go ahead - show the BS contestants do (or their trainers ASK THEM to do!!) - the dirtier the antics, the more people love it (even if it's love to hate!)
Now I understand what and who you are talking about.
I don't even remember who Blake was...Oh well.
Blake was black team who were cousins and his wife was pregnant.
Dane, apparently, not Blake or whatever I said.
Mandy, here's one of the millions of articles. LOL http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2009/02/danes-marathon.html
