Did anyone else hear about the new traffic law?
I heard it on the news this morning. Apparently you can now get a ticket for driving in the left lane. They are going to start enforcing that the left lane is for passing only. Here's the link to the story if you'd like to read it:

Thoughts?
Re: Did anyone else hear about the new traffic law?
I'm conflicted on this one. We've all been stuck behind that guy on I-10 who goes 45 in the left lane. But the law doesn't only apply to the interstates. It applies to all multilane roads. So Siegan, Perkins, Sherwood, Coursey, Airline, Florida, etc. are all included. I think that's a bit ridiculous. And if I got stopped and ticketed for this, that cop better show up in court b/c I would fight it all the way.
The only way I can see this being valid is on the interstate. There is NO way this can work on busy streets like Coursey or Airline. I'm with you Shoe, that is one ticket I would seriously fight!!!
It went into effect on Aug. 15, I think. And I don't know how I feel about it yet. I like it but I also see that there could be tons of problems with its enforcement.
I haven't actually read the law but it seems that if you are not going faster than the car in the lane to the right of you, you may be in violation.
This happens to me all the time: I am in the left lane and passing other vehicles. Another car comes up quickly behind me and I put on my blinker to change lanes and get out of that car's way. Before I can change lanes, that car whips over into the right lane and passes me. Would this cause me to get a ticket?
I think the law is a great idea in theory but I don't know that it will actually work.
