This sucks

Hubby has been away on business for 5 nights.  I have been missing him quite a bit in the last couple of days and have been so excited to have him home tonight.  He just found out he will probably have to stay one more day.  I just want him home :(

Re: This sucks

  • Aww, that does suck.

What can we distract you with?

  • Wanna come to Chicago and hang out with me?  At least today I'm busy working until 10 tonight, but I was looking forward to having him at dinner tomorrow night.

Tell me a crazy story - something you did that you would never do again, but don't regret doing (no pressure).

  • I'd love to come to Chi-town, but alas, I'm broke. :(

Crazy story, huh? The ones I'm thinking of are trashy and scandalous. Not sure if you're all ready for that side of me. :)  I'll try to think of one that is fit for public.

  • Crazy story and Chicago-related...I snuck into Lollapalooza a few years ago. Both DH and I were planning to go the legitimate way, then he had the bright idea to sneak in because he hadn't bought his ticket and they were more expensive day-of. So I sold my ticket, which I (the responsible one) bought early at a cheaper price, and walked the perimeter of the fence with him to scope out the terrain. We separated briefly while he scoped out an area further down, and I happened to be standing next to a grizzly-looking older guy and his wife. Grizzly guy pulls a pair of wire cutters out of his bag when the rent-a-cop is out of sight and he snipped right through the fence and ran into Lolla. I climbed in right behind his wife and hid in a port-o-potty for 10 minutes. I came out and realized that DH had my bag with my phone, money, etc. I had to borrow a stranger's phone to call him, only to find that he didn't make it through and had been detained by the cops for questioning. He didn't even try to get through though because he couldn't get there in time to crawl through the fence. Long story short, I ended up  finding his friends inside, listened to about 3 songs, then felt guilty because DH couldn't make it in so left.

  • :(

On the bright side, I love how absence does make the heart grow fonder. The kids and I spent the night away from my DH on Saturday and he was all over us on Sunday--gotta love that!!?

  • Here's just a silly little thing:

Since a little bit before the wedding, C and I started unintentionally dressing alike. As in, we'll get ready, go outside and then look at each other and see that we're wearing the same color. It happens most times that we go out and it's really ridiculous and annoying. We do not plan it we just don't realize it. It's so silly.

  • Check out the wal-mart site I posted for some great laughs and also for qualification of how amazingly wonderful your life is!! LOL!
  • Thanks for the cheery stories.  You are all just very kind and sweet.  I just got home from my first class, and it has been confirmed, another night alone.

Victoria, how often do you train into the city?  How far out are you again?

Lately, I've been coming up to Chicago every week for 2 days out of each week--staying/working in the River North area. Hopefully after the next couple of weeks I can cut down to 2 days every other week. I live about 2 1/2 hours outside of the city.

  • Oh, that stinks, sorry about that.  That is a hell of a commute.  I hope they at least put you up somewhere nice!
  • Yeah, it's no fun at all. Maybe if I had time to explore Chicago it would be okay, but it's usually just work, work, work. Today is a slower day, luckily.

I stay at the Club Quarters hotel, which is okay (i.e., could be better and could be worse). I just wish they offered frequent stay points or something since I swear it's like I live there. All the hotel staff know me by name.
