(1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share? Not really. I have been feeling much better, although WAY more tired (sleepy) than usual - going to bed pretty early. I can feel the baby's movements a little better but they are still very sporadic.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? I have an appointment with the CNM practice on Thursday. I'm still VERY hesitant about it, but have been getting some pretty good feedback about them from my ND and others. UGH, still not ok with a hospital birth, but I'm feeling pretty boxed in at the moment.
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth? not sure. I asked him last night and he hadn't given it much thought. He is essentially self employed, so he *can* set his own schedule, but when he's not working he's not making money so I think he will take a few days (1 week?) off and then kind of work fewer hours than normal for a while. But if he has anything major going on he will need to go into the office/court no matter what.
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful? also something I'm thinking a lot about. I have gotten great feedback on 3 different classes - a hypno one, the bradley method, and an independent one taught by a doula. I am leaning towards Bradley so that MH will get a good handle on ways he can help participate, but I personally am really interested in the hypno class, so I might take that too or self study.
(5) Made any fun purchases lately? nope. I put spending on hold until after the informal shower SIL is hosting next month when we are visiting the ILs out of state. I even managed to bypass the cute baby outfits at my college bookstore.
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO? I like goodnight moon. My husband memorized lots of books as a kid and there are home videos of him reciting "because a little bug went ka-choo" at about age 2.5. Soooo cute! I will make sure we have that one.
(7) **Bonus** PIP anything you would like to share. Ex: Your bump, new baby cuteness, baby's favorite toy, or new purchase, etc. Have fun with it!
I went shopping for maternity clothes. Until now everything I bought came from the Gap but their dress selection isn't good and I needed something to wear to a wedding, rehearsal dinner, and shower. I ended up at Motherhood.
For the rehearsal dinner:
(early afternoon) Wedding: plan to wear with peep toe pumps to make it a little more "fun"
I also found a couple of t-shirts at Target, but I don't really *need* those yet.
(1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
tired. sleepy. tired. exhausted. have I mentioned tired? I was actually uncomfortable all day on Sunday, but by Monday everything seemed to work itself out and the LO and I were both ok.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Thursday morning! 32 week appt. Should just be a quick one, measuring the fundus and answering my questions, weighing me (my least favorite part!), and blood pressure.
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth?
You know, this is a good question. My huband is taking classes at the community college (since he has not been working for the last 1.5 years), and I'm not sure what the policy is. His instructors know I'm PG and when I'm due, so obviously they will excuse him for the birth and hospital stay, but I have no idea what the policy is beyond that.
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful?
I start mine tomorrow night... I'll have to let you know later. I don't know if it's a specific technique - it's given by the head nurse at my OB's office, so I think it's more of a general thing.
(5) Made any fun purchases lately?
no
But got a couple of fun shower gifts in the mail!
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO?
I don't know that I have one! I know Lucky Puppy (from 101 Dalmations) was a favorite of mine when I was older.
(7) **Bonus** PIP anything you would like to share. Ex: Your bump, new baby cuteness, baby's favorite toy, or new purchase, etc. Have fun with it!
LOVE this playmat we got in the mail yesterday! so colorful! It's the Fisher Price Precious Planet line ... so cute!
Inamra - Love the shoes!
I guess I could have posted some of my new maternity clothes, I forgot I buy some more of those last week.
MrsNJSwimmer - that play mat is SO cute. I love the little bear and lion.
(1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Feel good depsite traveling 12+ hours!
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Big u/s was Friday. It's definietly a GIRL! She's a week ahead and very tall (75% percentile). It was awesome seeing her for 45+minutes and I hope to feel movement soon!
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth?
Not sure. We're still working on this one.
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful?
Yes, Bradley Method...starting in November. We've hired an instructor to come to us.
(5) Made any fun purchases lately?
Not really...
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO?
The Giving Tree and Where the Sidewalk Ends

(1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
Feeling good. Pretty much normal. I think I already said last week that I started feeling movement? And B was able to feel a couple kicks? And I guess I'm starting to get a bump, but I don't think other people can really tell. And it's still all below my belly button.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
Next dr's appt isn't until Oct 9. Big u/s is next week! Can't wait!
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth?
Well, he works for himself so he won't really be taking off. Just cutting back on working. And he'll take care of baby when I go back to work.
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful?
We plan to take a class either through my doctor's office or through the hospital. I don't think it's any particular method. Probably won't take it until December.
(5) Made any fun purchases lately?
We bought our crib, pack 'n' play and carseat in the past week because Target had a big sale. I also bought crib bedding last night that I found on sale.
Shopping for baby is FUN! And addicting.
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO?
I don't remember any books from my childhood. Is that sad? Well, I do remember this one...but I'm not sure what it was called. It was about a girl who got her tonsils out and the dr's name was Dr. Constantinople. Why would you have such a name in a childrens' book?
(7) **Bonus** PIP anything you would like to share. Ex: Your bump, new baby cuteness, baby's favorite toy, or new purchase, etc. Have fun with it!
Bought cute crib bedding...on sale! Plus the matching blanket and pillow.
I scoured the internet for something I loved that wasn't ridiculously expensive and finally scored. I wanted something not "baby-ish".
I'm feeling good. My hormones have seemed to settle down so I'm in a much happier place and my BHs haven't been as painful. So everythink is looking a whole lot better! I started working part time this week (only mornings) so I'm going to see how that goes, hopefully it will help my BH contractions stay unpainful.
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
My next apt is next week on Thursday (I meet with both the midwife and OB that day). I also have to do my GD test this week.
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth?
3-4 weeks? We're not really sure yet. He normally takes 2 weeks at Christmas because they're so slow, so he'll just extend that. He can work from home and go to meetings here and there during that time.
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful?
We're signed up for a pre-natal class that starts in October. It's with a Doula. We're really looking forward to it for the class and to meet other couples.
(5) Made any fun purchases lately?
My MIL bought us a crib and mattress last weekend. So we bought the dresser and set it all up. Russ finished painting the nursery. It's looking good!!
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO?
I love you Forever - Robert Munsch. Anything by Dr. Seuss. I

Love your crib bedding - it's adorable!!
I found a Canadian company that sells BananaFish near me so I'm looking into their bedding now! I really like the lovebird set if we have a girl!
Married Bio
Super cute bump!
Oooo, MauiWedding, I love your new dresses, they look so cute!
Sanae, the bedding set you got is so adorable! and on sale too! That's the best
HulaLove, I LOVE your baby furniture--that's the color that we have for our dining room b/c I love dark wood so much
Is BananaFish the brand of the furniture? You're looking really glowingly beautiful with that cute bump too!
Thanks!!!
The furniture is from the Bay, it's a brand called Gluckstein.
Bananafish is bedding, I'm not sure if it's more or not? I've only seen the bedding on the Nursery Decor board of the bump.

Ohhh okay
Hehe, I don't know anything about baby brands yet since it's early but it's GREAT to learn about these things from you ladies with more experience! Thanks for the info!
Yeah, it's still early for boots right now (since it's still pretty warm in Cali), but I wanted to be prepared
Have fun boots-shopping! I love shoe-shopping
MH was like "Wait, is this pg just an excuse for you to get more shoes?" (since I got 3 in one day =P)
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up? In 4 weeks, on Oct 6...just a regular checkup, nothing exciting.
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth? We're hoping for 3-4 weeks. I think he gets 2 weeks of paternity leave, and then we're hoping he can take another 2 weeks of vacation time (we get 4 weeks a year) immediately after. We'll see!
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful? Uhhh...whatever the basic one offered at the hospital is. (I have no idea what it's based on, I think Lamaze techniques.) It's a small town, I don't have a lot of choice lol.
(5) Made any fun purchases lately? Sort of - we were at Target, browsing through the DVDs on sale, when suddenly Ben looked up at me and said, "You know honey, we have virtually no kid's movies except for Pixar." So we bought Babe and E.T. lol.
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO? Hmm. The Velveteen Rabbit and The Monster at the End of This Book.
(7) **Bonus** PIP anything you would like to share. Ex: Your bump, new baby cuteness, baby's favorite toy, or new purchase, etc. Have fun with it! Umm...I've got nothing, sorry! OK, how about this, mostly because I can't stop staring at it:
RedShoeGirl - your first mommy-to-be check in!!!
YEAH!!!
I keep forgetting to tell you that I found jolly ranchers really helpful for m/s. I tried the preggy pop drops, but they were $12 for a little box and they hurt my tongue. The jolly ranchers were $12 for a huge bulk bag.

(1) How are you feeling? Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
I'm ok but not great. very short of breath going up the stairs... my uterus now takes up my entire abdomen so if I am not sitting up perfectly straight it's uncomfortable as my uterus bulges over/around my ribcage if i'm just the slightest bit hunched over...not to mention kicks in the ribs-ouch! I'm now dealing w/sciatica in my right leg and pain in my left hip joint...not all the time but a lot of the time. just got the tip from the ob yesterday to ice my butt for the sciatica so hopefully that will help?
we're finally making progress on our nursery wall mural! got the main parts painted and I will work on the little details this weekend... will put together the crib soon and we'll have most of it done
once it is totally done I will post pics
(2) Next appointment date? Any big ultrasounds/other exciting stuff coming up?
just had an appt yesterday - just routine. next appt is in 2 wks... in 4 wks will start the internal checks. no more u/s for us as long as baby is doing ok
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth?
he won't get it all together, but he'll get 4 wks off during the 8 wks around the birth of the baby. since he works in the hospital it will be whatever they say and he will be happy to take what he can get
we're just happy he gets any time off around then at all considering he only gets 4 wks total per academic year
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful?
nope. plan to get an epidural so the ob said it wasn't necessary
(5) Made any fun purchases lately?
got the vast majority of the clothes baby will need from some consignment sales recently... some were super cute and all were ridiculously cheap. oh - and I bought some bows for her!!
(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO?
everyone poops and the very hungry caterpillar
(7) **Bonus** PIP anything you would like to share. Ex: Your bump, new baby cuteness, baby's favorite toy, or new purchase, etc. Have fun with it!

1) Feeling good. Slowly losing the baby weight. Baby is rolling over both ways and getting in her first tooth!
2) Next appt is on 10/7 and baby will be getting her second HIB shot.
3) MH took off a month. Wish it could have been longer!
4) Just took a general informative class, but read all about the Bradley Method of natural childbirth and ended up being able to deliver med-free.
5) Looking for a high chair. Just started my LO on rice cereal (Happy Bellies organic brown rice cereal with DHA and probiotics). She LOVES it!
6) Where the Wild Things Are
7) MH caught Waianuhea striking a pose while my SIL held her.
(1) Any new milestones or news in the last week to share?
YES! I gave birth! Can't believe it was one week ago... Seems like an eternity ago. On Wed, 9/9/09, I delivered Alexa Leilani by c-section. She weighed 7 pounds,12 ounces and measured 19 3/4 inches. I was in the hospital for four nights following delivery, so we came home Sunday. I am now living the dream... Every day... With my gorgeous little baby Alexa!
(2) Next appointment date? Any big u/s or exciting things coming up?
We had our first pediatrician appointment on Monday. We have our second one this coming Monday, Sept 21. I have my follow-up 6-week OB-GYN appointment on Oct. 21.
(3) How long does (did) your husband plan to take off from work after the birth?
DH took off last week for the birth. He's back at work this week b/c my mom is here for two weeks to help me. He plans to take off a month of paternity (October) after my mom leaves, then work November and use his vacation (we have not used any this year) to take off another month (December).
(4) Are you taking a childbirth class? Which one? Did you like it/find it helpful?
We took a childbirth class, it was a good introduction. I took it back in July, so I forgot a lot of what I learned in it. I also took a breastfeeding class, which was helpful. But you really gotta try it to get the hang of it. My pediatrician office has a lactation consultant on staff, so that's been hugely helpful. We also took a First Aid class through the Red Cross. Total waste of time and money! We took a baby care skills class to learn about diapering, swaddling, bathing, feeding, etc..... Very helpful!
(5) Made any fun purchases lately?
YES! Well, I'm about to.... About to buy letters for the name "Alexa" to put up in the nursery! I'm thinking of ordering them all in the Amy Butler pink coriander print with back hardware and no ribbons... What do you gals think???

(6) Favorite childhood book you can't wait to read to your own LO?
My office used this as the theme of the baby shower they threw me. I got a ton of cute books! The book I can't wait to read to Alexa is The Velveteen Rabbit!!!
(7) OMG I have sooooo many pics and am so behind at uploading... My mom JUST NOW took this pic... Alexa is curled up in my lap... She is so freakin cute I can't stand it, I just want to cuddle her and kiss her all day!!!!!
