So the doctor called today and said that he convinced them to do the test that will determine where this mineral is coming from at the local hospital. Which is great, now we don't have to wait and possibly won't have to go to Children's at all. But it was such a gong show, we were there for an hour while they kept running into the back to check the directions over and over again. I'm not sure what about this test was so challenging- it looked like any other blood test to me- but they were so antsy starting it, so unsure of how to proceed. Ethan was so good at first but started losing it after sitting in the chair for 45 minutes while they kept reading the manual and doing who knows what else in the back room. They're couriering the blood to Children's tonight and they will test the blood at Children's right away.
So hopefully that'll provide all the answers we need. At the very least, the pediatrician told me it'll tell us where to look for the next round of testing.
Re: more testing
Well... at least they were being thorough. Hopefully it will save you a trip to Vancouver if nothing else.
I've been thinking of you a lot Lisah. I really hope this turns out to be something that you can figure out so that Ethan can get bigger and stronger.
If I'm remembering correctly you were going to go back to school right? What's the situation with that?
I think both Ethan and yourself deserve a medal for being as good as you have been with all of this.
Good luck with the school Lisah. Let us know whenever you need a cheerleading squad or if you need to be told to stop procrastinating
I'm very impressed with how quickly this new dr is getting things done for you! Good news he's saved you a trip to Vancouver too.
Weird the test was so hard for them to do... I guess it was pretty rare.
Hopefully it provides some answers and the next round of testing goes smoother (or better yet they find an answer and another round of testing isn't needed!)
