I'm back and BR Update
I am back from our anniversary cruise. It could not have come at a more perfect time for us to rest and relax...with all the fertility crap we have been going through the last few months and more to come in the next few weeks.
I see congrats are in order for Lisa with the 2 babies...that is exciting. I don't know if I beleive the twins theory or not. My mom is an id twin, my 1st & 3rd cousins have id twins. Then there are another 9 sets of id twins on her side and 1 set of fert twins.
Baby update
Before we left last wednesday 9/9 (our anniversary) we had to go to the dr. for bloodwork, u/s, sign our consent forms and then pay them 13k up front for the ivf procedures. And then of all thing they add $30 to it for our co-pay for the visit...you would think since I just paid all of the other they would just waive the co-pay...but whatever. I had been on birth control for the last 20 days so they wanted to check to make sure my ovaries were suppressed and all hormone levels were ok. I had to start my stimmulating shots sunday while still on the ship...not as bad as I had thought it would be since I used to give myself allergy shots years ago. The medicine burned like hell going in and still burned for several minutes after. Then last night I couldn't get the needle in and MH says just jab it in and I though WTF you want me to just stab you with the needle and see how you like it. I go back tomorrow to check to see how my follicles I have growing (my ovaries are already starting to scream) and then have to add another shot to the mix for the next 5 days. I should be going in to have egg retreival on the 23rd give or take a day...they will decide on the last u/s on the 21st when the exact date will be and they also will tell us when to do the trigger shot for ovulation. The egg transplant will be 5 days after that and then a pg test will be 9 days later. There is so much more to all of this that I never could have imagined. They have to send you a calendar of what shots to take when and when you can have sex and when you have office visits. When I got all the meds in the mail I almost fell out it was so overwhelming with all the different needles and such. So please send me your vibes these next few weeks are going to be long and hard. My body has now become a science expermient. I guess MH really does not get it...is why when he said that about the needle I about lost it. I have given at least a pint of blood for various tests and a million different instruments shoved up my hoo ha and now I have to take 3-4 weeks of 1-3 shots a day and all he has to do is go make a deposit in a little cup
Thanks for letting me vent and here's to hopeing that by the 1st week in Oct I can join the pg nesties.

Good luck on the IVF process, keep us posted. Ugh, Men!! MH would probably offered the same wonderful advice re: the needle. But if it were him.... haha!

Yikes! Don't know if I could handle all that. Hope you are able to take some time for yourself and just relax/get your mind off the stress. Esp during the 2WW.

i am sorry about how sucky the IVF process is but know you can get a lot of support from the girls on Trouble TTC on the bump - as many of them have gone through IVF at least once if not multiple times. i will be sending you tons and tons of baby dust that you are successful with IVF#1. i am not sure if you did or not but you may also want to look into shared risk where you get your money back if they aren't successful after a certain # of IVF cycles. hopefully it wont' be an issue b/c you'll get knocked up the first time, but if not it's something to look into...

It is overwhelming with all the shots and everything, but just take it one day at a time, and you'll get through it. I went through that part of the process 6 times (not IVF for myself, but I've donated my eggs, and the process is basically the first half of IVF, up until the retrieval). The shots do take getting used to, but after a while, you won't notice the burning so much.
Remember....just take it one step at a time. Loads of vibes and baby dust coming your way!
