C and I are watching TV together. Right now we're watching Ultimate Fighting Champion - it's like ANTM for men except instead of cat fights there are real fights and instead of them saying stupid crap they say things no one can understand.
It's only fair that I have to watch this with him since I have made him sit through ANTM and all the other crappy shows I watch.
But, this made me wonder about YOUR tv watching.
C mostly watches movies and some fighting shows and the Simpsons. I watch LOTS of sitcoms and some reality shows, but rarely movies. There are a few shows, like 1 or 2, that we both like so we DVR those and watch them together. Other than that, one of us is often compromising on what we watch. I DVR lots of shows and watch them while I'm working. I think I usually have more control over the remote than he does.
Re: TV watching poll
My H watches a lot of SportsCenter. The only things we ever agree on are reruns of Scrubs and Sex and the City.
Also, our Saturday night ritual is coming home from having some drinks, settling into bed, and watching Lock Up on MSNBC. I've decided we're super strange.
Lucy Elizabeth 10.27.12
We also dont agree on many shows.... we DVR Deadliest Catch, Fringe and Top Chef and that's about it together.
He watches mostly sports and discovery channel. I am, on the other hand, a complete DVR-aholic (this is a real disease, I swear). House, Greys, SVU, the Office, Desperate Housewives, Brothers & Sisters, the list goes on and on! I've also become an avid watcher of all those HGTV house hunting shows and then I get angry that people can afford to drop 700k on their first place.
Together, B and I watch THE OFFICE, Top Chef, Family Guy and will watch Flash Forward.
He watches the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and Celtics. When a game isn't on, he's watching THE OFFICE or Family Guy or Seinfeld.
I watch everything lol... THE OFFICE, ANTM, LOST, Southland, anything trashy on MTV, every single show on HGTV, Project Runway, Real Housewives, some shows on the cooking channel, Whale Wars, The Deadliest Catch, Planet Earth... I know there are a lot of shows that everyone raves about (like Dexter or True Blood) that I've never seen, because I think it's been too long and I won't be able to get into it. And True Blood I think would give me nightmares given what my coworkers have told me about it.
OMG AmyLou, I thought I was the only one who watched Deadliest Catch! I figured my watching was solely keeping that show on the air. Good to know I'm not alone haha
I also really, really, really love House. And B really, really, really loves 24.
Noooo we LOVE IT! We get so sucked into it. and when Jake's sister died-- no lie that's like the 3rd time I've EVER seen David cry.
and he's also excited for FlashForward so we're taping that too. I like when we have shows to watch together, i get excited. me = NERD.
We usually watch TV together, although we don't always pay attention to each other's shows (mess around on our computers or work)
Things we both love to watch: Mad Men, Office, 30 Rock, Hung, and Entourage, Chelsey Lately before bed, and lately the Glee Club. Oh, and we usually watch about 2 movies a week (not counting those I might find on TV on a lazy Sunday).
He watches a lot of the discovery channel stuff - sometimes I'm into it, sometimes not.
Every once and awhile I like some reality shows - The amazing race, American Idol, So you think you can Dance, Top Chef. He is not into these shows at all.
I guess I'm kind of the odd one here. DH and I love watching NHL and NFL, as well as UFC (Ultimate Fighting). In fact, we get our best cuddle on while watching UFC haha.
Show wise, we like to watch The Office, South Park and Family Guy together. He watches House, which I can't stand and I watch The Hills, which he can't stand. Other than that, we agree on just about everything else.
A also loves to watch Ultimate Fighting Championship, anything on ESPN, and Friends reruns.
I mostly into ANTM, Project Runway, Top Chef and Ugly Betty.
Together we watch Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Greys Anatomy and anything on TLC or A&E thats on during the weekends. We were recently watching 16 and Pregnant on MTV and I actually caught him crying over the couple that gave their baby up for adoption...I didnt expect that from him at all
DH and I are very different on what we watch.
DH watches: The Office (I can't stand it), 30 Rock, That 70's Show, King of the Hill, Family Guy (Also can't stand), Malcolm in the Middle, The Biggest Loser, and some sports.
I watch: Grey's Anatomy, Charmed Reruns, Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman Reruns (My favorite, he thinks it is "alright", so sometimes watch it together), NCIS, Some NFL, Private Practive, Project Runway, ANTM...oh and the list goes on.
Together we watch: The Simpsons, South Park, Law and Order:SVU.
We watch all of the same shows and can't wait for the new season of all of our favorite shows to start!
We watch: Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men, The Office, Real World, Real World/Road Rules Challenge, The Hills, The City, and looking forward to some of the new shows starting up this season like Modern Family, Flash Forward, etc
D prefers movies. He is a UFC guy too--I can get into it sometimes, but not really. LOL. If he's not watching that, it's the military channel (which is pretty cool). He is also a big Discovery Channel guy and we watch Deadliest Catch, the new one about swordfish and Black Gold together. Other than that, he will watch a movie he has seen 1000 times before (Road House) if it comes on. I can't stand doing that, it seems like a waste of time to watch something you've already seen so many times. Oh yeah, let's not forget the hunting and fishing shoes which I absolutely CANNOT STAND! Wow, I really actually have hate for hunting shows I think. We do watch the show on Speed where they try to guess the times that the cars are going to run, and I usually end up beating him. So that is always fun. We agree on college football, Bones, Entourage, Dexter and Grey's Anatomy. He also watches True Blood from time to time which I could take or leave.
I am a tv girl all the way. Project Runway, Top Chef, Flipping Out, Ugly Betty, The Office, All the Housewives (except for ATL). He hates them all. Well, he used to like Top Chef, but now he's "over it." Sometimes he will watch an Office with me, but only if he's desperate. I will absolutely not miss an episode of Entourage or Dexter. Those are hands-down my favorite.
I also have a DVR addiction.?
Todd watches sports of any kind, if its football I can watch it, if its anything else, I'm not going to pay atttention. He likes the discovery and history channels, mythbusters, dirty jobs, seinfeld reruns, and family guy.
I watch anything on HGTV or the Food Network given the choice.
Together we always watch or DVR Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, How I Met Your Mother, Two and a Half Men, lately Wipeout, and we're looking forward to watching Flash Forward.

Neither of us watch too much tv. On a usual day, we wake up and sit in bed for 30 minutes flipping back and forth between CNN and the Today Show. Then when we get home, if one of the few shows we like came on and we missed it, we'll watch it with dinner. Those shows are 30 Rock, Mad Men, Dexter, and Weeds. But usually we take the dog for a walk or go to the park, eat dinner, screw around on the computer a little bit.
We do, though, watch The Daily Show together right before we go to bed. Other than that, I don't really watch TV without him. he watches Fringe and that firefighter show with Denis Leary that I'm sure I'll think of the name of after i finish typing this. Rescue Me. See?
I say on a usual day because lately we've been starting over on series(es?) that we've never watched and watch them pretty much every free moment we have. We're currently on the Office.
oh and on Saturdays I like to start the day with College gameday and just keep the tv on college football until the LSU game. It makes me feel like I'm still in college
There's not much that DH watches that I don't particularly care to watch, other than the Simpsons, Nova, and Deadliest Catch. He likes the Daily Show and Colbert Report, which I've gotten into. Together we watch Entourage, Lost, Project Runway, and HGTV. I watch the Hills, Real World, Amazing Race, ANTM, and Grey's. He has definitely watched all of these with me, but he's not a huge fan. I am much more of a TV watcher than he is, but neither of us watch a lot. I am also a Tivo addict.
DH usually likes all of those really testosterone-y shows: Deadliest Catch, Ice Road Truckers and lots of stuff on WWII airplanes and ships.
Together we watch The Office and Biggest Loser. And Man vs. Food. He is getting me into Life and Southland, though they both still scare me a bit (I am a total baby). I will also watch football with him (or, rather, fall asleep on the couch). We also watch Parks and Recreation though neither one of us likes it because it is filmed around the corner (the big pit is down my street).
But me, I watch more reality TV than I ever thought I would. Supernanny, Bridezillas. I also love Suze Orman. I watch the Simpsons. NONE of this he watches with me. Ever.

See, I watch those shows too and, maybe because I live in an area where you can barely buy a house for 700k, I get angry when I see everyone buying gigantico 18 bedroom mansion for 200k with no money down and balloon mortgages.

He won't watch very many of my shows, so I do lots of DVR catch-up when he is gone or busy. I am also a DVR-holic, and here is my list:
Grey's, Gossip Girl, ANTM, Real Housewives (I don't like ATL but I still watch it), Amazing Race, the Duggar's, Project Runway, Models of the Runway
We watch together (still on DVR):
Top Chef, Gordon Ramsay
We like to watch together when we catch them:
The Office, Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, Cash Cab
He likes to watch alone (doesn't DVR though)
anything on the history or science channels, Cavs games
