Jumping Jellyfish...or poodle

I was driving to class today and a poodle in the car next to me jumped out and landed right in front of my car. The car was going about 10 mph and the dog landed on it's side.    Thankfully I was able to stop before running it over.  I don't think it was hurt as the dog jumped out as we were near a 4 way stop (and it got up and ran to its owner).  I knew there was a reason I only crack the windows for my dog.

Re: Jumping Jellyfish...or poodle

  • OMG I would have had a heart attack. Thank goodness the dog didn't seem to be hurt.

  • hahaha - its a great image - a poodle flying out the window.  I'm really glad it wasn't hurt, that would have been devastating.
  • OMG stories like this are EXACTLY the reason that we got Sookie a carseat.

They make car seats for dogs?  Or is it like the seatbelt that looks like a harness?

  • This is exactly why I get really anxious when I take Lilly for a drive and she wants to stick her head out the window......
  • She's got this http://www.kurgo.com/products/sbbs.html

It will clip onto her harness so she wont become a projectile in the event of an accident or quick stop  AND it will keep her from jumping out the window :)

  • Those are really cool.  My dog is a little too big for something like that (well the box one at least).
  • Sookie's a Boston Terrier so she should only end up between 10-25 lbs according to the AKC standard.  She's the runt and her breeder thinks she'll end up around 15 lbs like her grandma.  That car seat holds up to 30lbs so we're hoping we wont have to buy another one :)

I was going to ask you what kind of dog Snookie is. I want a Boston Terrier (or french bulldog) so bad.  If I ever get one I am naming it Bubbee.

  • Omg. You will probably never have another story like this to tell... ever. That's hilarious... slash sad. And scary.
  • Chaz hangs halfway out the window when I drive. He loves it on side streets, but the wind on the freeway is too much for him so he comes inside. There's usually someone in the passenger seat holding on to him (he's gotten too excited and tried jumping a couple of times in the past), but if I'm by myself then I keep him on a leash so that I can hold on to him and make sure he doesn't go too far. It's worked well so far, he tried jumping out just yesterday and I reeled him back in! :)

I totally just pictured Marley and Me.
