need some wedding help please!

Give me suggestions for any and all vendors that you liked or didn't like. My brother is getting married in May and I'm just helping the SIL out. The only thing that they don't need is pictures ... my mom said she's pretty sure AIDT is taking them.

Re: need some wedding help please!

  • I love planning weddings, Mine was in New Orleans so I am not much help with vendors around here... But I am helping plan my friends wedding this November and she is on a tight budget plus I am helping w/ my cousins wedding but her planning is still new.

I do reccomend ordering your invites from theamericanwedding.com I ordered mine from there and got a really great deal, but that was 21/2 years ago, I ordered 200 for 175.00 which to me was reasonable compared to other companies.

My friend is using Jam productions for her Dj and she got a good deal with them, http://www.myspace.com/jamproductionsbr

I would check out the shaw center terrace, a girl that works for my Dad got married there and they were in her budget and it was very nice and the food was good. Idk if they want to come to Gonzales but they recently opened a new reception hall called the grande pavillion and their prices seem reasonable- http://www.grandepavilion.com/hp.htm

  • Florist: I will recommend Pretty N Pink in Watson until I die. The lady was so polite and did an amazing job of taking all my ideas and putting them into action. Plus, they are very, VERY reasonable. She is right off of Hwy 16. If you want pictures, go look on my facebook albums under my wedding photos.

Videographer was D's uncle, and he no longer does it as a job, just as a hobby to family and close friends.

Cake was also done by a close friend, and it was amazing, as her cakes always are. I also know another lady that does awesome wedding cakes too. I can PM you their names and numbers if you would like

Bridesmaids Dresses: totally recommend The Bridal Party in Denham. Hands down, best service and their prices were amazing. Not one dress that my girls ordered was over $120.

Tuxes: I'm sure since yall are in DS, y'all will be going with squires, D has gotten a few tuxes from there and hasnt had any problems with them.

I ordered my invites from Cambridgepaper.com and they were very reasonable, plus they are almost always 40% off with their invitations. I believe for 350/400 invitations(dont remember the total amt) it was around $260 total. And their customer service is excellent. The UPS guy decided to deliver my invitations in pooring down rain, and left them at our gate, and they were all ruined. My mom called me crying telling me about it, (I was in Pensacola at the time) so I emailed customer service, a guy called me early that next am and said that they would send me my same order that day and make sure it had to be signed for. I got home that Sunday, and my invites were delivered that Monday.

I think that is everyone I can think of off hand.

oh and A Cottage Path for flowers!! wonderful and cheap!!

  • i am such a DIY freak...

invitations:  DIY from hobby lobby.  their selection has gone up immensely since i got married, and they have much more trendier styles and papers.

food: mom self-catered, but bayou bistro and padain's were the most reasonably priced at the time.

music: complete music.  i wanted one specific dj i had seen at a bridal show, so we paid to have him.

cake: i did a petit four cake with a stand i had made, but fairy dust cakes in denham has since opened and i have always said that if we did a vow renewal, she would do our cake.  i've been to several weddings where she has done both grooms cakes and bridal cakes and they have been wonderful. i had her do my shower cake and was tickled to death over it.

maids' dresses: i second the bridal party, but they are going out of business. =(  david's will probably have the largest selection of what you can try on in the store, especially if there will be same color/different dress or same dress/different color themes.

bridal gown: i purchased mine off-the-rack at a sample sale at gabrielle's.  veil was about $50 off of ebay, as well as my hair brooch.

flowers: my only complaint.  rickey heroman's in denham totally screwed everything up.... my maids bouquets were the only things that were correct.  my bouquet was nothing like the pic i gave them, and they forgot the bouts and they didn't even show up until after the wedding.  i seriously think they just didn't make them.

  • ditto theamericanwedding.com for invites...I got a great deal!

But I also ordered my rehearsal invites from Vistaprint and those were awesome.

I was just at Target on Siegen yesterday and they actually had some really pretty DIY invites.

I got married in NOLA so everything else was down there.

  • I second A Cottage Path for flowers! I loved Lea's work and I thought she was very reasonably priced.

  • Thanks girls!!! You all rock!!!!
  • Vendors I've either dealt with or heard great things about: The Cut Flower, Bustle, Bella Bridesmaid, Lydie Ruth Stationery, and Chauvin Photography.  Weddings/Receptions at the Old State Capitol and Old Governor's Mansion have been my fave to attend.
