A nice gift that is Cincinnati-specific?

I had an old high school friend who came down from Cleveland and stayed with us over the weekend. She brought us some gourmet chocolates from a really cute, trendy chocolatier that's in Cleveland as a "thank you".

We are going to visit her in early October, and would love to thank her by bringing a small gift - something that  is Cincinnati-specific. I'd like to stay away from Cincinnati-style chili (she's not a fan), and something that is portable. She loves sweets (hence the chocolates). Can you help me with any suggestions? Looking for something in the $10-$15 range.

  • Esther Price (although they're really from Dayton).  Graeters will pack ice cream in a cooler with dry ice.  I've had Haute Chocolate, I think they would be good for something fancier.  Jungle Jim's should have some chocolates & fancy baked goods from small local companies.  Someone makes the old Virginia Bakery schnecken-anyone know who?   It's a loaf of sweet, buttery goodness.

BTW, not sure if you lived here before they closed but you should get a loaf for yourself!

Servattii's makes some of the old Virgina Bakery stuff, Im sure they have the Schnecken.  But, I know Buskens always sells it- I always see those billboards with it ::drool::

eta*  I keep thinking about the Schnecken and I know I was wrong above- It IS Busken that sells the Schnecken with the original recipe.
