Weekend Getaway Suggestions
So my parents are coming for about 10 days and they offered to watch Sarah while C and I go away overnight. We really want to take them up on it but don't know where to go! We'd prefer something local and not super-expensive. Any suggestions? TIA!
Re: Weekend Getaway Suggestions
I used to go to Palm Springs often to vist friends and I loved how close it was and how much there was to do there.
Or Baronna (sp?) casino in SD is supposed to be really nice and cheap. If you can go during the weekday it's a steal!
I was trying to plan an overnight get away with G there but I haven't worked enough to swing it.
How fun!
Palm Springs, San Diego or LA are the weekend trips I'd like to do.
I know you can get a great hotel in the center of Palm Springs for about $50 through priceline. I have our PS getaway planned down to where we're having dinner, just need to find a good wkend to do it.
You can also check Travelzoo for good deals on hotels.
I could of swore one of the local hotels had a sci fi suite. Like based on star wars or star trek or something but I can't remember. I'll have to look into it.
What are you looking to do? just relax by the pool? or stay in your room and order room service
? Or did you want to sight see?
How far do you want to drive?
San Diego, Palm Springs, Santa Barbara
Pechanga...
Kat - a sci fi room would be fantastic!
We'd like something local enough where we won't have to drive more than an hour or so. I know...hard to do down here but we'd hate to spend our free time in a car! :-)
It will most likely be a weekend of laying by the pool and reading or hanging out in the room and reading (I don't get to read enough with Sarah around!).
Thanks, guys for your help!
Kat~ A sci fi room?! You have to post that info! H and I are total sci fi geeks.
Lori~ There is always the beach. Newport, Huntington, Long.
I ditto Temecula. You can stay at Pechange or one of the wineries. Brandy stayed at a really nice one right after her wedding. And that way you're closer to SD if you want to go down there and hit the beach up
Ahhh, bummer.
Maybe the Madonna Inn in SLO has one? I know all of their rooms have themes...
I was just looking at that and I didn't click on all the rooms but it didn't seem like it. ALthough there was a hotel in Minn that's made to look like a space pod
