someone tell me to get off my lazy butt

A coworker/casual friend is having a semi-housewarming thing today (lol I know that sounds weird - it's at 2pm, and not a real party - just a thing where people can stop by, have a cup of coffee, see the new house). It's in an hour and a half and I haven't even had a shower yet today.

I'm just having SUCH a hard time getting motivated today - I'm tired, sore (my bewbs feel like they're about to fall off and I've outgrown my bras, which isn't helping - I thought that wasn't supposed to happen for weeks yet???), and just feeling cranky in general, and I REALLY don't feel like going to her house today. I know it wouldn't be for long (like a half hour, max), but it's all the other stuff (like finding a good outfit, putting on makeup, etc.) that's dragging me down. Not to mention that the ILs are coming over for dinner tonight and the house is a wreck, so it still needs to be cleaned this afternoon.

Someone tell me to lose the pity party and get my ass in gear and go visit my coworker. That's the right thing to do, right?

Re: someone tell me to get off my lazy butt

  • Ugh, I HATE those days....when all you really want to do is a whole lot of nothing but you know you should shower and get moving.  Sorry, I can't tell you to get off your lazy butt.  It's Saturday (for you at least!), you're tired, pregnant, and well.....that's enough, isn't it?

    Big Smile

  • How bad would it be if I sent her a message to say, "oops sorry, we have a thing with the ILs today [she doesn't have to know it's actually tonight, right???] that I forgot about - can we stop by another time? I'd still love to see your new place!"

Because I really do want to see it (plus she's giving us a ton of moving boxes so I don't want to offend her lol)...I just feel so crap and unmotivated today...

Or should I just suck it up and go? Decisions, decisions...

I'd go with this option.  She'll understand, especially in 5-6 weeks when you spill the beans about being KU with dueling pirates! LOL!

Sorry your bewbies hurt....have you tried ice?  I had to use it in the first tri because they were so sore.  They still hurt in the early mornings and although I sleep with a shelf-bra tank, I have to hold on to them as I make my way to the bathroom at 4 a.m.  Owie!

  • Did you go?

I'm just imagining you calling her with some excuse in mind, getting beufuddled and blurting out, "I just can't make it, because, because, my boobs are so big they feel like they are going to fall off:"

... to which there really is no response.

  • lmao @ Nancy!

Ugh. I still haven't moved off the couch. It's 1.40pm. I think I'll wheedle Ben into telling me not to go, then send her a message. I feel bad, but.......blah.

You know, I've thought about it but haven't actually tried ice...it seems like it would almost hurt worse than the soreness now? I don't know if that makes sense...but whenever I ice an injury, the cold itself makes it hurt for longer than the numbness actually lasts. Weird.

  • Right thing - smight thing.  If you're exhausted, sore and unmotivated I say don't go.

I found that in the beginning of my pregnancy I couldn't do as much as I could before and when I tried to I was even more exhausted (which I didn't think was possible).  Maybe pop in tomorrow if you have more energy and appologize for not being able to make it.

Sorry bout your bewbies!!  When mine were sore I had lots of baths.  They were so sore that when Russ even looked at them the ached.  Crying

  • ...i'm no help.  i've skipped a friend's birthday party once, b/c it didn't start until 10pm, i forgot until i was already in my jammies, and i was sleepy!  Embarrassed  and i wasn't even pregnant with dueling pirates/ninjas - so yeah, if i were you, i wouldn't go  Embarrassed

  • I thought the same thing too (about the boobs) but I was probably 1 cup size larger by 8 weeks and 2 cup sizes larger by 12 wks.... and now I think I am growing again because my bras are starting to feel tight again Tongue Tied

did you end up going? I would have probably skipped it and said the ILs were coming into town........

I know, right?? I'm delaying buying new bras for another week or two, just because they are super expensive here (well, if you're any bigger than about a 28B anyway lol - for some reason everyone in Oz is supposed to be skinny with little boobs) and I don't want to buy a new bra just to outgrow it a week later. I'm hoping to hold out for about another two weeks...but we'll see how that goes.

Nah, I ended up skipping - I used the "oops, scheduling conflict" reason that I gave above. SO glad I did!
