Dog Boarding--Help!

Hi Ladies-

Does anyone know of a good boarding place on the northshore?  My husband and I have to go out of town this weekend as well as the week of Thanksgiving and we can't take our dog with us.  I'm completely lost at this point and I already feel so bad for leaving her....

 TIA

Re: Dog Boarding--Help!

  • The Animal Health Clinic on 21st st. I LOVE them! Charlie has such a good time while he is there. YOu may want to call soon b/c they tend to book up quickly! http://www.ahcmaryshouse.com/maryshouse.html He gets to play outside a lot, and I pay a little extra so he can go swimming a couple times while he is there.

  • Ironically enough, DH just found out that he is going to be out of town this weekend, as will I. I just called and they still had openings. However, one thing that I am NOT crazy about is they are going to make me sign a waiver due to the possible hurricane. The waiver states that I understand that humans cannot endanger their lives to go get the pets (if it was a really bad storm), so tehy would basically be on their own. I think I might look for a plan B b/c that really upset me. I'll keep you posted on what I find.

  • LSU- thank you so much!  I really appreciate you keeping me updated.  Have you ever checked out these two:

  • Lakewood Animal Hospital on hwy 22 in Mandeville is great! We've left our dogs there several times and they loved it.

  • I haven't ever tried either of those, but they were two that came up in my search as well. I liked that the owners live on the premises at the Willows Oak place. I may just end up canceling my beach plans all together. This storm thing is making me nervous.

  • I'll have to check into the animal hospital...thanks for the tip!

LSU-  I ended up just getting a dog sitter for the weekend, she'll come as many times as you want and our dog will have the comfort of being at home.  (she's a rescue so I was concerned about sending her away somewhere...we just got her in July)  It's $15 a visit and she'll feed and walk your dog among other things.  If you're interested--let me know and I'll give you the contact information.  She seems trustworthy and reliable.  This storm is making ME nervous, too.  I've only been down here since May so this is all new to me....I was counting on you gals to let me know when I should be panicking! ;) *L*

  • There is also Pongo's Pet Palace on Hwy. 59 not sure if it's Abita Springs or Mandeville, really close to the border though. It's a bit fancier, but they are really nice and offer other services.?

I've never used them because we always need Sunday pick up and they don't offer that.

The storm, is freaking me out a little, though I know I can't worry until this weekend when we see where it goes.

Emily, just watch the news, if they say go, go. Since we're on the northshore there is a less risk of flooding, more risk of tree/wind damage. We won't leave unless it's a upper three or higher. Just get some supplies just in case! (If you go to local news station websites there will be hurricane supply lists... that will give you a start!)?

  • Not on the NS but in Metairie close to Causeway.  Puppy Love website is puppylovenola.com

We left Oreo there while we were oot for a week.  It's a kennel free boarding place.  The dogs are only kenneled to sleep and are out the whole day.  They have a webcam and I think it's $17 a day.

Oreo lvoed it and so did we.  Also we live on the westbank and will use Puppy Love anytime.

If you go there, tell Angela that Trinity and Oreo sent you,...lol

  • LOL, I just went to check the url I gave you and I found a pic of Oreo on her website....he's the black and white dog....creative name, huh?
