blah! I'm trying to make myself like hummus!

I need to lose weight and my weakness has always been chips and dip.  So I'm trying to make myself start to enjoy eating hummus and carrot sticks.  Feel like that would be healthier.  But so far it's not the same :(

  • It's just not.  Mr. Shoe has made it a couple times but the consistency is just...off.

  • Perhaps starting with a REALLY high quality store bought hummus with roasted peppers in it would satitate you. Then you can make them from there.

  • Good call, MT. The store bought stuff is much better, especially the red pepper kind. Sam's has some fantastic hummus if you guys shop there. Could you also start with toasted whole wheat pita bread instead of going straight to carrott sticks?

  • Yeah I bought the Athenos (I think) brand red pepper kind.  I might try the pita bread with it.

  • What about salsa for a dip? You can bake your own tortilla chips with it or go for pita chips too!
  • speaking of baing chips, they make baked tostitos now and they r soooo good!
  • Christen, you could always buy it from a restaurant next time you eat greek out. They will discount it for you if you buy a large order and you can freeze it. I have done this before. The restaurant won't have all the preservatives and junk in it that the store bought ones have, also.
