DH = the suck at choosing baby names

We had a set boy's name, and a girls name roughly worked out, but now we have to figure out names for two boys or two girls. I set up a poll for him on babynames.com with all the name combinations that I like, and he's vetoed like four that I loooooove. Crying

Clearly the child naming should be left up to the stellar taste of yours truly, right? There's no need for the man to get involved...

Re: DH = the suck at choosing baby names

  • Oh, that sucks. I think you should go with the set boys name and then he should let you choose the other boys name...because you are doing the carrying and the pushin'!

And yes, I only mention boys names. I'm callin it right now....you gots ye two boy PIRATES in that thar womb of yers. It's a ninja-free zone.

LOL how funny! I totally agree that it's going to be boys...Ben is 100% certain that it will be girls (because, in his words, "Can you imagine the hell that two little girls would wreck on my life? I'm doomed and I know it. I'll need to buy TWO shotguns.").

Boys would actually be easier, because I think we'll have an easier time deciding on their names! We only have three boy options at the moment (one of which is the set-in-stone name, and the other two are names that I love), but there are waaaaay more girls names (only three first names, but about a million middle names).

  • Originally I found it easier to pick girl names, but that changed and now all I can think of are boy names.

On a totally non-related note.  I was confused when I read your post because I thought you knew you were having a boy and a girl.  Then I remembered I had only dreamt that!  I'm having REALLY weird dreams lately and one of them was that you posted that you had had your ultrasound and one bebeh was a girl and the other was a boy!

  • i know!!! i have this whole list of names I like and he doesn't love any them...there are a few he likes but he wants it to be a name he loves...and yet he can't even come up w/a list of names that he loves!! grrr...at this rate she won't have a name until after she is born :(

i agree that the mom should get to name the baby after carrying it for 40 weeks!!! plus he already gets the last name!

    Excellent point Jaime!

  • Sounds like my DH in the beginning... I was like, yu can't veto all my  names without coming up with suggestions of your own! Then I vetoed his suggestins. Somehow we got down to 5. It'll happen. Although twins does make it more complicated!

Why not look at names but not focus on anything until you know the genders? There are so many other things to do, just put off the name thing for a couple months...

Heh, the only problem with this is that we're actually thinking of giving them a dual surname, like I have. Stick out tongue

Because I'm reeeeally bored lol. I can't plan a nursery until we move (which won't be for another 6.5 weeks or so), my "OMG I'm having twins" books haven't arrived yet, my next doc appt isn't for another 4 weeks (and no u/s until a week after that), and I can't go shopping because we're more or less in a spending freeze until the house buying is done (I'm neurotic and want a nice fluffy money cushion in case something big comes up). I already have lots of Aussie sites for virtually everything bookmarked from the last time around. So even though there are a lot of things to do, I can't do many of them at the moment. Stick out tongue

Have you looked at this site yet?

    http://www.nymbler.com/

Yup, I love that site! We got quite a few of our girl ideas from there. I find a name I like there, then swap over to NameVoyager to see how popular it is, since we're trying to avoid anything in the top 20 or so (ideally not in the top 100, but since two of the names we like are classics that have been popular for the last 150 years or so, we can't always avoid it).
