Anyone own a Bumbo seat?

My son wants to sit up so bad so I've decided to get him a Bumbo or a Bebe pod. I looked on the Canadian BRU site and could not believe when I saw they were priced online as $65.00! In the states they are $40.00 American. Really? Are they really this much more expensive here? If you have one how much did you pay? We are not wanting to pay $65.00 that's for sure.

Re: Anyone own a Bumbo seat?

  • I didn't even know what one was but I got it as a gift for DS and he loved it.  I think when I checked the price (2 years ago) they were around $65.
  • Check Kijiji, people sell them all the time on there.  I know that my sister sold hers a couple of months ago for $30, which is a pretty good deal, considering they aren't actually in them for too long.

  • Welcome to Canada. The markup is disgusting and you'll likely find that on most items :(

I bought one recently and that was the price.

  • I bought ours with the tray included at a local baby sale and I paid $45. $65 is probably the cheapest you will find for a new Bumbo.
  • What do you think of this instead? It's half-price ($29.99) at Toys R Us until September 24th. I'm thinking of getting one myself...

That does look like it might work except DH and I are pretty crunchy and trying to limit the amount of plastic stuff we get. Tall feat, I know. The seat alone would be ok. Thanks for the link.

  • We got ours as a gift and really do like it, I do feel it is worth the money we would actually take it with us on visits or small trips and use it as a seat to feed baby on the ocunter or something.  I also found it good to put him and he would not go anywhere on me.  We also go the tray but found it kind of useless. I second trying Kijiji or Craig's list.

  • What disgusts me the most is knowing how cheap these are to make.

You will probably also notice that we don't get a lot of the same things up here that you get in the US. Our BRU is nothing compared to the US BRU. So sad.

  • Yup they are ridiculously priced. I'm glad I got mine as a gift, because DD loved it, so long as her chubby legs fit into the grooves LOL

I'm not too far from Guelph, you're welcome to borrow mine. He'll only use it for a few months, anyway. As long as I get it back for baby #2 (and we're not even TTC yet, so that's a while in the future).

Just let me know. I also have the tray that goes with.

  • My DD loves hers.  She likes to sit on the counter and play while I make dinner or bake.  DH and I also take it with us when we travel so we have a high chair if needed.  It's great.  It's stupidly priced though.  I waited until I had a gift card for BRU before I actually got it.

  • We got ours as a gift too - but welcome to Canada - land of the over priced! You'll soon understand why we make big shopping trips across the border.

Hope you find something that works or that you enjoy your trip to Buffalo!

  • $65 is the price that I've seen too, that was at Toys R Us. I would check Kijiji, I'd like to have one too but don't really feel like paying that much.

  • It's because until recently, US and Canadian $ were not on par. $65 Canadian used to be about the same as $40 US.
