Traveling to Montreal in 10 days!

My best friend and I are taking our annual trip together, and this year we selected Montreal. We're staying at the Omni Hotel Mont-Royal, and would like to know your restaurant recommendations. The only caveat, no sushi, anything else is fair game. We are on a budget, so please include a couple reasonably priced meals, but we always splurge for one nice restaurant, likely on Friday night.

Where do you recommend, and why?

Also, what are your thoughts on Chez Cora, the breakfasts look tremendous, do you recommend it?

Thanks!

SAIF/PAIF absolutely ALWAYS welcome to respond!

  • Chez Cora is a large chain, and it's pretty good, but it's pretty expensive for what you get.  You can probably find better places than that.  DH is from Montreal, so we travel there quite frequently (unfortunately - MIL and I are NOT bff's).  I like Weinstein & Gavino's on Crescent St., and there are loads of great places along St. Denis and St. Laurent.  St. Catherine is sort of the main street in Montreal, and there are loads of places along there too.

  • Thank you for your input, I'll make that note about Chez Cora and we will probably just look for somewhere that "looks and sounds great". We are getting really excited about the trip. Thanks again!

Thanks, I saw that post yesterday and noted those restaurants and we're definitely hitting the deli, I was just looking for a few other recs.

    Thanks!

  • You're in a great location! I would also think about skipping Cora's. It's a great place to eat, but pricey for what you get, save the $$ for your splurge dinner.

I would for sure reccomend going to Vieux Montreal and trying any restaurant there, I have yet to find a bad one (but I also have yet to write the name of it down).  Crescent street if I remember correctly had a good night life too.

    Have fun!
