Flame- and others who know Downtown/Nob Hill ABQ
I have always worked a PT job serving or bartending in addition to my day job (mostly for extra cash and socialization) So I plan on doing that in ABQ as well.
I'd prefer a restaurant over a bar, since they are not open as late and I have a day job, but just looking for a few decent places to apply in either Nob Hill or downtown. Any places you think are fun and lucrative?
TIA!
Re: Flame- and others who know Downtown/Nob Hill ABQ
BR3 mentioned most of the Nob Hill restauraunt/bars . Another is Gruet Grill (formerly Monte Vista Fire Station so lots of us still refer to it by that name). La Brassaire is a great French place right near UNM, but I think they only serve wine. Il Vicenzo is an Italian place at Carlilse & Central. And Geckos is a tapas bar right next door (not sure if they do mixed drinks).
Between Girard and I-25 you hit a heavy college crowd. But there are a few bars in there. Copper Lounge - my local pub - is in that area. Coaches Bar & Grill (sports bar) also comes to mind. The Copper gets a mix of hospital folks and college kids. it's more pubby than bary, if that makes sense. And Coaches is the place for lots of alumni sports fans, so they have shifts during the day and evening. And folks tend to be there with a group and its not a get trashed kind of crowd. (We go to Coaches for our ACC fix since we're too cheap to do cable.)
In EDO (I-25 to the railroad tracks) you have Artichoke (Italian), Farinas (pizza) and Standard Diner (upscale pub).
All I can think of downtown is Blackbird Buvette. But a lot of hotels are down there, so they may need bartenders. I would look into the Andaluz - the old La Posada (and a Hilton before that) is supposed to have a soft opening any day now. And they're planning a roof-top lounge and fine dinigng resteraunt that will specialize in paella (It used to be Conrad's and I've missed them SOOO much). I really like the redeveloper - he did a total green remodel and is just so darn excited about downtown. The're Capos (Italian) and Mulroney's (sp?). One UP is a tapas place. I loved Anodyne, but it's closed now. Downtown gets a bit dead at night on the food end and has lots of bar places.
