The past 48 hours have been awful for us. Marino burned his hands at a restaurant (he was looking at an outdoor light and stumbled forward, put his hands on the light to stop his fall). He has 2nd degree burns to both hands and may need grafting surgery. There aren't words to describe the guilt I feel. It never occurred to me that light might be dangerous! I wish I could just change those 60 seconds...
I felt sick all day yesterday, but I thought it was just stress. Well, this morning I woke up vomitting, so I guess I have the flu. I had DH take Marino to daycare (luckily he goes to a daycare for medically fragile children, so they have nurses on staff) b/c there is no way I can take care of him in my current condition.
I am really miserable right now. Thanks for listening!
Re: Can I Vent For a Moment?
Oh noooooooooo I'm so so sorry for both you and Marino!!! There's no way you could have known those lights could burn him. The returant should have some sort of warning or protective case around them so this doesn't happen.
I hope you feel better soon and I hope Marino's hands heal quickly and in a way that does not require skin grafting surgery.
Oh I am so sorry! That is just horrible timing for you to get ill when all you want to do is help out your little man. I hope you both have a speedy recovery.
So what kind of light is this that he fell against? My gosh, I would think they would have some sign up that would warn people on how hot it was. I'm sure if people saw this sign, they would keep their children away.
I hope you feel better today. I always am a fan of Pedialyte when I get the flu. Hang in there and keep us updated on Marino!
Oh gosh, I am so so sorry to hear this
I know this won't help to make things any better but my girlfriend had something similar happen to her son (went to check mail and her LO ran out to follow her and burnt his bare feet on the pavement, she was devastated...) Just know that you aren't alone. I also can't believe the danger of that light in the restaurant...
I hope Marino recovers quickly and you as well... that photo in your siggy is too adorable for words.
I love Hawaii!

sorry also to hear you are sick. take care of yourself. hope you feel better.
oh no! I'm so sorry! That must have been awful to watch.
The good news is that he probably won't even remember it down the road. And now to be sick?!? UGH! I hope you feel better soon.
Sending you some good vibes to get through the next few days....
HUGS!
I'm so sorry! Totally vent-worthy. There is no way you could have known the lights were hot to the point of burning, I can't believe there wasn't some sort of protective covering for lights that are within reach of any patron (children or not).
I hope you feel better soon and I hope Marino's injuries heal quickly!
Oh no!! So sorry to hear =( Don't feel guilty--kids fall and get into accidents like these all the time. So sorry that you're feeling bad too--I really hope you feel better soon and I hope Marino is doing better too...Lots of vibes your way!!
Btw, I LOVE that cute pic of Marino in your siggy
Oh no - I'm so sorry to hear about Marino burning his hands! I hope that he doesn't need grafting and that he heals quickly.
I hope you feel better really soon!

Awwww......poor Marino! There's no reason to feel guilty, though, it's totally not your fault. Accidents happen every day. Hopefully, he'll heal well on his own and won't need surgery.
I'm sending well wishes for both you and Marino to feel better!
Oh, I'm so so sorry!!! That must be so awful. Just remember you can't control all his movements all the time... I'm so sorry you are sick now too. Yuck. I'll pray that Mario doesn't need grafting and just heals quickly!
((hugs))
Oh no! I'm so sorry about what's happened to Marino. I know it's easier said than done, but it wasn't your fault. I hope the restaurant will take measures to prevent this happening to someone else. That light sounds dangerous to its patrons, no matter the age!
I hope all you have is a 24 hour bug and that it goes away ASAP! And thank goodness for Marino's day care! Healthy vibes coming yours and Marino's way!!!
Oh no!! I feel so bad for the both of you.
I am not sure if this will make you feel any better but my girlfriends daughter had 2nd burns on her hands from touching those fake fireplace glass. She didn't need it grafted and there is no scaring. She did have to apply some kind of ointment and wrap the hands for about a week (she went to Johns Hopkins for a 2nd look). She is around the same age as Marino. I hope the same will be true for Marino
Feel better!

Aww Sara....I'm sorry, but please don't be so hard on yourself. There's no way you could have known how much damage those lights could cause. I just checked out your blog & I feel so bad for your little guy. I hope his little hands heal quick and that you feel better soon.
And thanks for the PSA on the lights. I would have never guessed that those lights could be so dangerous.
