Hi ladies! I hope you are having a great week!
So I am in ABQ this week to find a place to live- I am excited to say that I have found the perfect place for me! I've also had a chance to explore the city a little and I LOVE what I have seen so far! Can't wait to be here for good.
I was getting a little discouraged yesterday- it's been hard as I am sure some of you know to find a place sight unseen. I also have a LARGE dog, which is a problem with renting. I own my home in Phoenix still, so buying another house isn't an option just yet. I also really wanted to stay close to downtown, Nob Hill, etc. With the dog, a yard is essential.
After looking at probably a dozen places yesterday- nothing was great, but some would be "doable"- either didn't have a yard but a park nearby, no washer dryer, etc. I had one more place to look at this morning and I am SO glad I did! It's a cute little house on Constution and Carlisle area (I think the neighborhood is called Fair Heights?) with everything I was looking for! I signed a lease and gave a deposit on the spot- the house just went up for rent yesterday, so I am SO glad I was here!
Anyway, just had to share. I'm headed back to Phoenix tomorrow, to pack up my house and get things squared away- and then I will be here for good! I can't wait!
Re: Yay! I found a place to live!
Hi! I am so happy that you found something! Where did you find this place? I am hoping to be able to find a place with a 6 month lease when we go out to look at places and talk with a builder on Friday.
Right now I think we may be leaning toward Ventana Ranch apartments for Ventana Canyon apartments.
But maybe I can have a good experience like that! I would love to be able to sign a lease and put down a deposit on Friday.
SO... what did ya do in ABQ during your visit?
We touch down tonight (Thurs) around 6. I can't wait! I just wanna be out there already hangin out with the great ABQ nesties!
I just got back to Phoenix- we really did just miss each other lol!
Good luck on your searching- a lot of the larger apartment places I talked to had 6 month leases, so I don't think you should have a problem with that!
The house I rented I literally drove by the house and saw the sign. It was the end of a loooong day of searching and nothing had panned out. I decided to just call the number- and she was showing the house the next morning. She told me later she got 18 applications in just a few hours- it was a great find! Since I am a homeowner and have a steady job, I knew I would be a good candidate for her- and I luckily convinced her of that too!
I didn't do a whole lot while I was there aside from driving all around. Went to Old Town, which was really cute, and also drove to Santa Fe- which is beautiful!
I can't wait to get all moved and settled- keep us posted how your visit goes!
Oh, I think you'll like Fair Heights. I like the Carlisle/Constitution area, too. You'll be super close to work, can walk or bike to Nob Hill, etc.
Have you figured out where the nearest dog parks are. Dogs aren't that much of a problem in ABQ - we're a dog crazy city. I swear EVERYONE has dogs. And in some ways. it's good you'll miss Balloon Fiesta this year. I have yet to meet a dog who doesn't go bonkers/crazy because of all the balloons.
Thanks Flame! Walker isn't a big dog park pup- like I said he's very big and looks scary....but is really afraid of his own shadow. That was my other reason for wanting a house with a yard, to make sure he had lots of excersise.
I thought Balloon Fiesta was the beginning of Oct- I will be out there Oct 1st?
Flame- I had a couple other questions about downtown, but I'll make a new post
The Fiesta starts Oct 3 with the early morning Mass Assension. But they have bunch of school activites on Friday, October 2nd.
Walker - what a great name for a pup. If she's that skittish, be very loving of her during Fiesta. The balloons really do drive dogs nuts. They bark, run in circles, freak out, etc. So she may be overly anxious. (My sister has a huge black lab that is the size of a horse. And Leroy becomes convinves she's a yippy lap dog every Fiesta.)
Oh, there's a great doggie bakery up on Montgomery called 3 Dogs bakery. You might want to look into it for Walker. Fun homemade doggie treats, a Yah=ppy Hour for socializing, etc.
