Poll: Holiday Decorations
Well all pretty much know when the appropriate time to take down holiday decorations would be, but when is it appropriate to put up holiday decorations?
I have been itching to put up Halloween decs for the past couple of weeks, but have been holding out until October 1st. I think I may put some of the generic fall decs up this weekend and wait to put up the true Halloween decs for another week or so. So what's your take?

Re: Poll: Holiday Decorations
My traditions vary somewhat.
I put up generic autumn decorations Sep 1.
Halloween decorations Oct 1.
Thanksgiving decorations Nov 1.
Christmas decorations anytime after Thanksgiving.
This would be cause for divorce in my house.
I answered "2 to 4 weeks." That is true for all holidays except Christmas which I think is appropriate to put up at any old time you choose because Christmas rocks. But I put up Christmas the weekend after Thanksgiving. I keep Christmas up through the Epiphany. The 12 Days of Christmas are the 12 days AFTER Christmas (Christmas to Epiphany), not the 12 days before! I am always saddened when I see trees out in the trash before Epiphany.
I picked "It varies" ... to be honest, some holidays I just don't decorate for. Although I don't have any problem with it for other people, I just can't bring myself to decorate for every season and minor holiday - I'm either too lazy or too ... well, okay, probably just too lazy.
But Christmas?? I've been ready to decorate for Christmas for more than a month now, and after Thanksgiving dinner is done, those decorations go up. Seriously. Same day. Sometimes day after, depending on how late I serve dinner. And they stay up until Epiphany ... and they all have to come down on the sixth. OCD. A little.
