Raised in the City?

Hi ladies,

Anyone raised in the City - Would you move to Jersey?

DH and I have been planning to move, possibly Jersey metropolitan area like Hoboken or Jersey city. He has lived his whole life in Manhattan. He doesn't have any problem moving to Jersey but on and off he makes comments like well that doesn't exist in Jersey. I have been living in Manhattan for 6 years and I love it.
We also looked into Brooklyn. For the same price we were able to find a place 300sqf smaller than the one in Hoboken and cheaper interior design. We loved the neighboorhood and the place.
Another important point, I work in Jersey City and probably will be going to school in Hoboken. Commute to work is not bad at all 45 min max.

Now we can not decide Brooklyn or Hoboken!? I have a feeling we will be happier in Brooklyn (specially DH) but DH thinks the space is great in Hoboken and we will be more comfortable/happier. Any suggestion?

Thanks a lot!

  • Hi there. I grew up in Jersey. I only moved to the city because DH is a fireman and wasn't allowed to move to Jersey. I have to say if I had the choice I would prefer to move back but it's only a personal preference. Hoboken is a great area. Very much like the city and you can take the ferry into NY. It's only a 7 minute ride. Very easy. On the other hand if your looking to buy, the taxes are ALOT higher in Jersey. Just a thought to keep in mind. Hope that helps a little.
