Anyone familiar with these, like pennypurses.com? Is it a scam? What gives?

DH isn't here right now, but he was telling me about these types of websites (not specifically for purses though). I think they are authentic purses, and IIRC, the way these sites make their money is that they charge a small fee (50 cents or so) for each bid. So if you have an auction that ended at $9.52 (like the one on their main page)...that means there were 952 bids on the purse. Multiply that by .50, and the auction made $476 on the purse. Make sense?
It looks like this site is slightly different...you buy "bids" in bulk packages, but I can't find anywhere that says how much they cost. I'm assuming the principle is the same as what I described above.
