Recommend a good quality rum for a gift?
I love rum, but don't know much about it and what is high end and what is not. My friend is getting this for a gift for her dad, and she isn't knowledgeable on the rum either. I'll be doing some googling, but personal recommendations are always great too!!

This is what I was going to say. Maybe people who are really into good rum won't agree, but it is the sipping rum in my house.
I would totally recommend Mount Gay rum. They have a lot of different levels of quality, but the coolest thing about them is that they are "most" likely the oldest rum maker in the world.
My parents lived off of it and introduced me to it. It's very smooth and easy to drink (and that's just their basic rum).

Oh, I recently tried this for the first time. Yum. It is unique... reminded me of tequila for some reason.
