wedding gift question

I know in the NYC area the general wedding gift is money.  Would it be weird to not give money?  My stepbro & FSIL only got one place setting of their fine china at their shower (from me) and I was considering getting them two more for their wedding gift (it's Friday.)

Would that be weird? You can tell me to just stick with the money, I won't be offended. I just feel bad that they only got one place setting.

Edit: nevermind, it's not in stock anywhere. money it is.

Re: wedding gift question

  • LOL, I would have said no it is not weird, but I guess it doesn't matter!  For what it's worth, I enjoyed getting things that I registered for just as much as I enjoyed getting money!  Because I actually needed and wanted those things!

What I did NOT enjoy was people who took it upon themselves to buy us things that we didn't ask for, because they "thought" we would like it/need it/should have it.  Most of those things we returned or sold on ebay....

  • I would have thought it would be fine as well. I think they would have really liked it due to the fact that they only have the 1 setting and most likely wouldn't have bought themselves the extra settings 'cause we all know we'd find something else to spend the money on...and you'd know they wanted it 'cause they registered for it. =) Ok, that was 1 long run on sentence...sorry. lol

  • Thanks to your edit I guess you could stick with money LOL. If they really want the china (and I would think they would), they'll probably use at least some of the money they get to buy the rest.

MrsKocal, believe it or not, we received several gifts at my shower that we didn't register for - and they're pretty well-used! Especially the waffle-maker; I figured we'd have no use for it and were close to returning it, but now I love using it on weekends to make waffles for me and DH. :) Meanwhile, there were some things we did register for that I haven't used yet...
