Annoyed by friend

I have a friend who keep asking to come by and bring me dinner.  Which is wonderful, except that she keeps cancelling at the last minute.  And when she cancels at the last minute and D is already in bed, (on 12 hour night shifts) I am left without dinner - that's twice this week. I'm okay to make light meals, but really would rather not have sandwiches, soup or lean cuisines for dinner.

Plus, it's just really really mean to tell a person who can't leave the house that you're coming for a visit and then continually not show up.

K, I feel better now.  Just needed to get that out!

Re: Annoyed by friend

  • that is frustrating!  Who does that type of thing?
  • That's very rude of her.
  • Wow!  That is rude and annoying. Boo to her.
  • very rude! I agree with the PP - don't depend on her for food and consider her visit a bonus!! hopefully she has good excuses and doesn't realize the impact of her actions on you.
  • I cannot believe that your friend would be so thoughtless to do this to you once, nevermind multiple times!

    That's horrible!

  • That's terrible!

I am honestly shocked that someone would do that.

  • Wow - that is annoying, and rude. I can't believe she would leave you hanging like that. Not nice.

Next time, just eat dinner anyway and if she does happen to not cancel and show up - just say you were really hungry and couldn't wait - or the baby couldn't wait :)

  • Unless she had a REALLY good reason (like she's sick or might be coming down sick) I'd tell her that she's hurting my feelings or that she may not realize but since you can't leave the house it's very disappointing for you to look forward to her visit and have her cancel at the last minute.

If the reason is work related or busy traffic preventing her from making it then next time I would say "It never seems to work out due to x, how about later in the evening or on the weekend so these conflicts won't come up at the last minute?"
