Random question: pet owners and hard wood floors
For those of you who own cats or dog and have hard wood floors, how do you keep them clean? I seriously feel like I sweep every day and no matter what, I look and there's dog fur everywhere. Scary thing is, my dog is short hair and he doesn't shed all that much.
I've swiffered a million times and I feel like it just moves the hair around.
Re: Random question: pet owners and hard wood floors
My god, my floors are the bane of my existence. I have two long haired cats (which i get shaved every few months to make things a little easier). Our floors aren't just hardwood though, they are almost black they are so dark, so when the sun shines in you can see every speck of dust and hair (like a black car always looks dirty).
This is what I have to do: first, I vacuum (using an upright cordless vacuum - small thing) - mainly to get the cat hair. Next, I have to sweep, because all three of our vacuums suck (not in the way they are supposed to). They don't pick very much up off the hardwood floor. Lastly I have to mop. I can't swiffer - the floors are so dark that all you see is streaky smears.
The husband has been researching vacuums for months, and we are saving up to get a Miele. They are supposed to be the best for hardwood floors and pet hair. They are freaking expensive though. Won't take the plunge until we know where we are moving to though (depending on the flooring).
HAha thanks Cru...so basically you're saying there's no hope. I thought I was going to LOVE having hard wood, but honestly,we had light colored carpeting before and vacuuming worked fine.
I feel likeI do sooo much more work. There's a corner of our living room that is tough to get to (between a chair and our couch) and it looks like everything collects over there. It's gross.

Ignoring it works!
I kid I kid. Anyway, I used to have a roomba and I would have it run daily (my battery got messed up so now I need a new battery). I try to sweep everyday to help cut down on the hair. I also try to brush the dog and cat daily and that helps too.
