Re: Does anyone know when/if Verizon will offer iPhone?
there was some hub bub about it earlier this year, but i haven't heard anything lately.

I have been researching this like mad! I have been waiting and waiting and waiting for Verizon to get the iPhone, been with Verizon since my first cell phone. We just switched to AT&T this last weekend.
1) Verizon's network is CDMA right now. They are working on a new network (LTE), which will be 4G that they plan to roll out in 2010 - rumor June.
2) The contract between AT&T and Apple is exclusive for the iPhone they make for AT&T. I believe they can get around the contract if they make a similar phone to work with Verizon's new network.
3) Apple originally went to Verizon with the iPhone but they could not agree on a deal, so Apple went with AT&T instead. I anticipate a long deal making process between Apple/Verizon once things are ready for that step.
4) Another rumor, the first Apple gadget to run on the new LTE network is going to be a tablet.
Conclusion: we decided to switch to AT&T. By the time two years goes by for our contract, LTE will be up and running and perhaps a 2nd generation of the Verizon iPhone will be available
P.S. Engadet Mobile is a great site: http://www.engadgetmobile.com/
"They say with time it gets better. Not true. With time you only get used to it."
The people at Verizon said maybe next year - but no guarantees.
I think AT & T will try and hold out and keep the Iphone for as long as they can. I think as soon as it becomes available to other providers people will run from them. I do hope Verizon eventually gets it.
One of the Apple Genius guys said the same thing. He said they have been hearing rumors for a while.
