Swimmable Waterfall in Maui?

Heh, I'm doing some last minute planning here =) Last time we went, we tried to go to the one at the Seven Pools in Hana but we weren't allowed to swim in it because the waters were too high/strong. I don't know what's the status of the Seven Pools during this season but are there any other ones that are good?

Re: Swimmable Waterfall in Maui?

  • We stopped at Upper Waikani (Three Bears) Falls on the way to Hana, and there were people swimming in the pool below.  I would've been one of them, but I was an idiot and hadn't put my suit on yet.

The pool was kind of small, but it was a beautiful spot and not at all crowded (we only saw 4 other people).  I think it's about 1/2 mile past marker 19, you find the path near the bridge and hike a little ways.

  • There is a place called Twin Falls, on the way up to Hana. We spent about five hours there once. The other tourist went right on by and didn't even know it was there, we were swimming with the locals and had a blast. It had a great rope swing, lots of fun. On our second visit to Maui, we were so excited to go to this place again and this time the water was moving WAY too fast. We were scared to even be close to the place for fear of getting swept away! Check it out if your going up that way anyway! BTW- it's not the falls at the end of the hike, when your half way to the end, listen and you will hear water, go to your left. I know it's not good directions but it's the best I can explain.
