So upset...but so happy.
Mary took her first steps today. She is at my brothers house while H and I are at work. He said that he and SIL just worked with her and she started walking to each of them. I am so sad and disappointed I missed that. If H and I didn't have such opposite schedules we could've done that but we never get a chance. I feel like such a failure for having missed my baby's first steps.
But I am so proud of my little girl!

YEY Mary!!!! But poor Kristy. That does suck.Not sure if makes you feel any better but even with DH watching Isabel for half the day he still missed the first time she rolled over, the first time she crawled and her first steps. You just never know when these things are going to happen. But wow walking at 9mths?

Kat-I knew she had to be close. She's been walking along the couch for awhile now and she's been standing for longer and longer periods of time. I just didn't think it would be this soon. I was just hoping that she would walk by halloween so I could take her trick or treating. I am sure she's still not very stable though.

You are NOT a failure.(Though I feel the exact same way lately, slightly diff reasons...) You're a mom who has to work to help take care of her family. I do understand why you're upset and I would be too. *hugs* I'm sure she'll be so excited to show off to mommy and daddy.
I think I'm going to tell everyone that if L starts to walk or says his first word, I don't want to know. That way, I'll always think he did it for me first

I know what you mean...it's hard when this stuff happens and you're not there to see it! But she'll do it again!
Sarah took her first steps on Christmas night...from me to her new walker toy and Chris missed it...yet he saw her roll over for the first time and I missed it.
A friend of mine's mom did home day care and wouldn't tell the parents about stuff like the child taking it's first step and such because she didn't want to take that experience away from them.
Let's blame your brother, he coaxed her.
