Furniture

Looking for modern but comfy furniture for our house that doesn't cost and arm and leg. Wanting real wood, no veneers. Any recommendations? More specifically a dinning room set. Table, 6-8 chairs and buffet.

Been search craigslist and its all gma stuff! :/

Re: Furniture

  • You need to go to antique malls and just search it out. I am not sure what your definition of modern would be. Do you have a specific time period. Now days there is not a lot of "modern" furniture that is made out of wood.

I forgot to add that mainly art has some great modern pieces. Not cheap, but wonderful stuff.

  • Have you thought about checking out local amish made furniture stores?  They use solid wood, and last time I checked, not everything looks country/mission style.

  • Yup!  This one in Florence, Ky.  The salesman is super helpful.  If they dont have what you are looking for in the store, they have binders full of products and you can also get custom pieces made :)

BTW, not sure if their website is correct on the address, I remember seeing that they had moved so you might want to call to find out their new location 1st.

  • I like Furniture Row Outlet.  They are affordable and the quality is pretty good.  We bought our kitchen table there and will probably be going back for more chairs and the buffet because we'll be moving it into the dining room in the new house.

  • I know most people don't think of quality when you say Value City Furniture, but DH and I just bought a new TV stand from there a few weeks ago and it is SUPER nice! It's their American Signature collection which is all solid wood and bonus...it's of course all put together since it's solid wood. DH and my brother in law went to pick it up and when they got home to unload it...they had to call us girls in for backup! Just a plasma tv stand alone weighed 175lbs! It's definately heavy duty, nice furniture! Check them out...

People will pay 3K for that because it is considered designer. It is wood. Plus is is probably very well made. Meant to last you your whole marriage.

You might want to try Main Auction Galleries. Jonas would  probably be able to help you get what you want.

  • There is a Verbarg's Furniture outlet out in Amelia on 125$ that has some pretty nice stuff at reasonable prices.  It's "outlet" because it's lines that are being discontinued our are overstocked, not because of the condition.  I just got a bedroom seat and a sofa there and I can'twait for them to come in.  It may be worth your while to check them out.
  • Legacies in Rookwood Pavilion usually has some cool stuff. I love to wander through there while I'm doing other shopping.
  • Not sure if they have solid wood stuff, but check out west elm.
