Cash for Clunkers for Appliances
Did anyone else read about this yesterday? They might start a cash for clunkers for old appliances this November, but there were barely ny details...
Re: Cash for Clunkers for Appliances
Someone mentioned this on the news yesterday, but it was while I walked past the TV in the breakroom. I did hear that the appliance would have to meet ALL energy standards in your state (I don't recall if they said your state or all states, so like federal standards.)
But I assume your old appliances must be older than fill in the blank years to qualify otherwise they'd have WAYYY too many people asking for money. LOL
I am interested in hearing more about it. If it is worth it, we may be participating.
I am not sure if they could enforce the age of the clunker appliance. For example, I have no idea how old our appliances are in our house. You could assume they are the age of the year the house was built, but that may not be the case.
Sorry I looked to see if I could find that email for more details but can't seem to.
That would be amazing. I want to do it! We need new double ovens (ours our original to the house so 15+ years old and one of them is dying a slow and painful death). We'll likely be getting new ovens in the near future regardless but some $$ towards them would be nice....

That's what I found...
We are in the same situation. We want to replace all of our appliances with new stainless, energy efficient ones and if the discount is worth it, we'll do it now rather than later.
All appliances have a model and serial number on them somewhere that will tell the year of the appliance when typed into a database. It's how repairs are done. For example, stoves will have a little sticker or sometimes plate on the inside of the oven door. Fridges are on the inside of the door also.
